Gorgeous restored 1965 VW Beetle For Sale

This Ruby Red 1965 Beetle is located in Southern California
and has recently emerged from a full body off restoration!

The car was done to a very impressive level.
The original German bumpers were re-chromed,
all new body rubber and trim. Original black California plates.

Gorgeous car inside and out.

Lets get right into the details on this one so you can see how far this gentleman went with the resto!
Nice and clean here in the spare tire well...looks like the original jack is in place as well.

Nice little details such as bright clean hardware holding the hood on.

Very clean under here as well...again look at the clean hardware.
All parts were painted off of the car obviously.

Amber topped "European style" taillight lenses.
And these are the genuine Hella units...not the cheap aftermarket ones.

Original washer bottle in place...I like how the body tag was not painted over and is sitting there all nice and shiny.

European headlight buckets and lenses add a very nice vintage touch.

A few small modern add ons like these very nice door sill plates.

Under the hood.

Very clean.

Even underneath it looks tidy!

New brakes, new everything (almost)

The seat upholster is wonderful as well...

Gorgeous car...look at that shine!

Wiring is all new

Wow!

Cant get much cleaner than this!!
The owner has a carpet kit to put under the hood, but with everything being as clean as it is...I dont blame him
for not putting it in...it would cover up all this!!

Close up of the door sill trims.
Note the nice tight weave carpets and the level of detail on the seat frames.

NICE PAINT!

OK...if Im going to get "picky" which I do some times...the 1300 emblem was a 1966 thing...not 1965

The engine underneath the lid is actually a 1600cc unit that has been converted to 12 volt electrics.

This is a brand new case and everything inside and outside is rebuilt or new.

Original oil bath air cleaner in place and all the hoses and tubes are where they should be.

Vacuum advance distributor.

Check out the new trim screws and all the rubber seals are in place where they should be.
Very nice attention to details.

The underside of the engine is as clean as the top...this car is FRESH!

The 12 volt conversion, while not  "correct" for the restoration purist, is a very nice change
for someone that really likes to drive the car. Brighter lights and more reliable starting...it's a good thing.

Were they this clean coming off the assembly line?

The car has the locking steering column and ignition switch which is a fairly rare thing to see
but a wonderful accessory. Best of all, it works, which the vast majority do not seem to.
This was original to this car and the lack of a hole for an iginition switch on the dash bottom is a clue to this.

Carpets are the high quality square weave stuff and it is all well fit.

Oops...still original finish on the handbrake handle!
(leave it to me to point that out...)

Original early Bendix radio in the dash.

modern 3 point seat belts have been installed for safety.

Carpet comes up to below the window.

Stock shifter.

Proper two tone door panels.

The car is super solid by the way...no rust or anything like that...look how nice this jack point is.

Oh...one thing I forgot to mention is that the heater is not currently connected...so the little kick panels
underneath the seat in back have not been opened up for the vent.

Here is another underside shot showing one of the rear fenderwells.

Check out the clean hardware on the door hinges and all the nice new rubber seals and details.
This was a very exstensive resto job.

When the body was painted...it was not done on a rotisserie, so the area under the luggage area was not painted.
It looks like very solid original metal...not much of a need to paint it,
But if you were one of those insane guys that like to show their car with mirrors underneath...you'd want to do something with this.

Suspension however looks fantastic.

Transmission is all superb and clean.

Rear seat has modern belts installed too...so load up the kids and lets go for a ride!

Nice photo here!
(insert exhaust noise soundtrack here...)

Steering wheel is wonderfully restored as well.

Wow.

Headliner looks excellent.

Sorry for flip/flopping between areas on the car...it's just the way the photos came out...
But check out those nice new tires!!

Very pretty!

All new window rubbers and seals everywhere.

Details...

Details...

Details...

This is the sort of thing that makes this car stand out from the others that are offerred for sale right now.
Sure...it is a bit more expensive...but you get what you pay for!

If it were my car...I would paint the wheels the proper two tone...and/or put on some whitewall tires.
It would make a very big "wow difference".
(my opinion...I know you didnt ask...but I gave it just the same!)

In closing this is truly a gem of a Beetle.
Freshly done to a very high quality.
You dont see them this nice very often!
It costs an awful lot of money to restore one like this...in fact the owner is taking a pretty big loss on it.
With that being said...it is well worth the asking price!

$18,500 obo
