1964 High Roof Delivery Van
Restored several years back here in Southern California by one of the locals,
it has been a consistant
award winner and had it's share of magazine features as well.
It has been in storage for the past few years, safe and sound, and is now
available to a new loving home.
The Bus is restored well and done with a good eye towards authenticity.
It seems that most of the other High Roofs I have seen for sale in the
past few years
(only a couple) have been modified in some way, either lowered or turned
into a camper or some such thing.
This Bus was restored back to what it was originally...a simple delivery
van.
The Bus presents itself very well and still has a fresh factory appearance.
Stock colors and proper fittment of the trimmings.
Very straight and solid example.
Window rubbers are all fresh, wipers nicely painted.
Correct mirrors...German stuff..not the reproduction stuff.
European headlights with the fluted lenses.
Clean seams along the lower edge of the nose.
Correct 14" wheels with painted caps and great industrial looking
tires.
Clean rockers. Signs of very minimal body repair here if you get down and
really look closely.
But it appears to be very solid with no bubbles or anything nasty.
European taillights as well with the amber top.
Great personalized California plate.
Title is clean and clear and in the sellers name.
(Plate frame not included in the sale)
Another clean rocker shot.
Pretty darn straight down the sides.
There is a lot of surface on the sides of one of these!
Just a great looking Bus all around.
Cargo doors open high so your elephany can get in without ducking it's
head.
Inside of the cargo doors are shet metal panelled from the factory...very
clean look.
Smooth!
Extra tall cab divider.
Nice clean floors.
Interior of the Bus is very clean and straight.
Latches are clean and well detailed.
A lot of storage space in here.
Nice and smooth inside eveywhere you look.
Underside of the rear hatch.
The tall cab up front is cool too
Nice upholstery in tweed and vinyl.
Major headroom going on...
That fresh air vent is way up there!!
Washer bottle in place, clean fuel gauge.
Kilometer speedometer is very clean.
Sapphire I radio.
Clean mats and interior kick panels.
Very solid floors.
Notched track for the sliding windows has been chrome plated...a great
choice to keep the paint from chipping up.
Clean steering wheel.
A clearer shot of the mats and controls.
Door panels are clean,
She's a tall one to be sure.
Loys of advertising space on the outside...a rolling billboard if you wanted.
Engine compartment is very clean.
The engine is a well built 1600cc single port with very minimal miles on
it.
Runs and drives well with no issues.
Transmission is original and shifts fine, clutch and steering are good
too...heck it even has brakes that work!
6 volt generator, German fuel pump, proper vacuum advance distributor.
Carb base keeps everything up and above the generator so there are no clearance
issues.
Clean and solid around the battery area.
Nice.
Sorry for the fuzzy photo...but the fuel tank is nice and clean and detailed
too.
A little bit of grime under the transmission but thats about it.
Underside is very solid with no rust issues.
Not show detailed under here but still presentable.
Very clean and solid in the fenderwells too,
The Bus has spent the past few years in safe dry inside storage.
It is fired up now and then but has seen little use.
And this is why the owner is selling it...he wants to see it out in the
sun again.
A great Bus indeed. A rare model that attracts attention wherever it goes.
Well done, very clean and ready for a new home.
Seller may entertain trade offers for other Type 2's, or good ol greenbacks.
