1965 VW 21 Window Microbus For Sale

This sweet 65 21 window is a repeat visitor to us here at Oldbug.com.
The current owner bought the Bus off the website several years ago,
has had his fun with it and is now ready to send it to a new home.

These pics with the desert backdrop are recent images of the Bus as it sits today
and I will follow up below with photos of it when he bought it.
You will see that it has been very well kept and cared for. It still looks as sweet today as it did then.

Great bright and fun custom look to it.
I love the chrome and the bright happy yellow color.
Super cool ride.

The 1600cc dual port engine still runs great and looks clean

Nice clean dash, modern audio unit installed under the parcel tray.

Very clean machine!

The interior also looks fantastic

So...above are the current shots and lets compare them to the more detailed pics of it as it was when purchased.
It looks the same!!

Read below to see more details.

Yeeee Haw... this is a purty one... aint it Clem?
A very attractive "Cal Looker" Custom Microbus.
Bright yellow and white and loaded with chrome.

Definitely an eye catcher and a dream car for cruising the coast and soaking up the California sun.
(...OK...you could enjoy this almost anywhere )

The Bus was restored a few years back but has been well maintained and garaged since.
The chrome wheels and bumpers sure add some bling factor.
Note that even the deck lid hinges are chromed...a lot of detail went into this Bus.

The current owner is the owner of a custom surfboard company
and he has used the Bus for business promotion as well as some family fun.
He even had a surfboard made to match it.

Wood slat roof rack is a nice touch.

Chromed pop out window frames

Straight and smooth bodywork....not "flawless" but still very nice indeed.

Door window frames have been chromed as well.

Chrome "Safari" windows in front open up to let in the breeze.

Chromed bumpers look great.

Polished Empi Wide 5 wheels are a classic choice.

I had a set of these on my custom Double Cab back in the 80's...they were cool then and they are cool now.

Accessory side step is a nice addition for the passenger side.

Inside the fun continues with a very bright and attractive custom interior
and a very well set up high end audio system.

Desireable walk thru front seats have been done in white vinyl with yellow piping.

Door panels in yellow and white...nice molded in speaker enclosures.

Grey carpets keep the feet comfy...

Stock dash and steering wheel.

Odometer reads 82,700 miles.
Actual mileage on the Bus is unknown.
Minimal mileage on the Bus since restoration.

Alpine head unit mounted under the dash.

Headliner in white pinpoint vinyl.

Drivers door panel...nice work.

Ive not seen anything quite like this before...looks cool and sounds great too.

Door latch hardware and screws were chrome plates.

Even the door latch had it's swim in the plater's pool.

Passenger area is very clean as well.

Door panels are very clean and well done.

Chromed door latches are a nice touch.

Walk thru front seats are very desireable in these old Busses.

Center seat is from a later model Bus but looks great just the same.

Rear seat matching of course.

Headliner in nice shape.
I did notice that the sunroof seemed to need a little work on the sliders...it was quite stiff.

Rear hatch has the jailbars and is nicely finished...hatch latch is chromed as well.

Nicely detailed.

Speakers in the back are in moveable boxes.

All nice and clean in here
All new rubber body seals and weather stripping

Engine is a fully detailed 1600cc dual port with all the trimmings.

Dual battery set up to help power the audio system.

Pretty clean in here.

The Bus runs and drives great..turn key, ready to enjoy.

Under the engine looks clean and dry.
Rear end has an IRS conversion which is a great set up for driveability.

Nicely done conversion to IRS from the stock swing axle set up.

Belly pans all look very solid and clean

Nice

Front beam is stock as are the brakes.
It has been lowered a bit, but not to silly levels like so many these days.

Front floor shows a little sign of patching in the corner...

Reflections down the side...pretty smooth

A great looking Bus that gets more attention than you could ever believe.
It s a crowd pleaser to be sure.
Lots of nice custom touches and overall a clean machine.

Back to "today's" photos...you can still see that it remains a very clean and well loved Bus.

Great fun indeed.
