1966 Beetle Sedan For Sale
This is a pretty neat old 66 that would be a decent driver as it is,
or a great restoration basis.
It was originally delivered in Germany and then relocated to California
shortly thereafter.
It retains much of it's original equipment and overall looks like a
very solid old machine.
The paint is old, but it does hold a shine as you can see.
It has its dings and scratches though, so dont expect a jewel!
The color is Sea Blue, which is original to the car.
The wheels are the originals with the proper two tone paint...tires are
decent, but not new.
There are a few scuffs here and there...you can see a little one on the
front fender here...but still, not bad at all!
The neighbors might even approve!
The car has the factory steel sunroof which is a very desireable
feature these days.
Black California plates!
Under the hood is pretty basic...I see the trunk liner in place and the
wiring cover too.
The spare tire well is straight and solid.
The front clip of this car has been replaced by the way...which is why
it is in primer under here
and not the original blue. It must have been hit and then repaired.
The whole front clip was replaced from the door jams forward.
The benefit is that the clip is clean and straight and with a little
prep
this area in here could be painted back in the original color and it
would look great!
Spare tire is an original Continental
but it is on a 65 or early wheel rim.
A couple of small dents in the hood.
Chassis looks very solid...some minor surface rust, but that is all
original German steel under here.
Looks very sound to me!
Out back the decklid sports the proper 1300 badge ...
Under the lid is a very stock little runner.
Its got some miles on it...the owner siad it's a bit "tired"
but it does run and drive pretty well.
The clutch and trans feel good, brakes and steering are good.
If you were to put it into daily use I would suggest saving up for a
rebuild somewhere down the line
but for now you can turn the key and go have fun.
I like seeing all the stock bits in the engine room here such as the
air cleaner and vacuum advance distributor.
Still 6 volt electrics
H code case,,,
Original paint under the engine lid.
There is a bit of a dent and paint touch up area on the drivers side
rear fender.
I think the paint on the wheels may be original...tires have good tread.
Good looking car...and the sunroof is the cherry on top!
Upholstery and interior looks all original to me.
It shows its 44 years of age, but it is all there which is quite
suprising.
Seats are the original upholstery...this is the proper stitch pattern
and material here.
So often when people restore this era of car, they re-do it wrong with
the textured material
all across the seat... this car has not been touched.
Driver's side seat has the worst of the wear as expected...
Original headliner is hanging in there and in pretty decent shape.
Some sun baking below the rear window but not as bad as a lot of
California cars I have seen.
Its coming slightly loose around the corner of the sunroof opening but
that may be able to be re-glued.
I see the original chrome rimmed dome light in place and the assist
straps too.
Dash is original paint across the center...the edges have been blended
in from the front clip replacement.
If you know what to look for and where to look, you can tell the clip
was done...but you do need to look for it.
Original carpets and mats are holding up pretty well.
Steering wheel has a few age cracks but not bad at all...and the horn
ring is complete.
The door jams just inboard of the hinge you can see that some bodywork
was done.
Original door panels!
Sunroof cranks uopen and closed just fine.
The felt seal on top is worn out, but those are readily available.
Closed up tight...
Great color combination with the all white interior against the Sea
Blue paintwork.
Original and untouched...
Great documentation with this car too including a batch of the German
manuals and papers that came with it when first delivered.
Here is the original owner's info.
Service booklet has service stamps from the early days in Europe
Dealer booklet too
And a grip of service records from the life of the car.
Its a good old car with a good history.
The chassis is solid, it is wonderfully complete and original.
Its a perfect basis for restoration or just leave it as it is and play
with it.
And it is priced very reasonably...I think it will sell quick,
