1978 Super Beetle Convertible For Sale

Being as this is an out of state car, I wasnt able to drive it and check
it out in person
(although a trip to Aspen would certainly not suck...)
but based on my conversations with the owner, it sure sounds like a good
car.
No wrecks, not rusted, just well maintained and kept up as it should be.

This looks to me to be the kind of car that with a little detailing and
very minor effort
could be a really stunning example. As it is it sure looks good...but there
are just a couple things
that could be improved upon. (a little tire shine would help for example!)

The original rubber running board covers have come apart a little so a
fresh set of runnimg boards would make a big impact
for very little investment.

Under the hood looks very clean and the chrome looks nice all around.
This color is called Mars Red and it is really a fun bright color...perfect
for a convertible.

The interior appears to be all original and untouched.
Aas is quite common with this era VW, the seat padding has broken down
in the drivers seat.
New pads are readily available and you could either remove and re-instal
the original seat upholstery
or put on fresh stuff. Either way it is not a difficult job and it's all
pretty cheap.

The dash and steering wheel look like they are in great shape. Door panels
and original carpet look pretty good too.

Drivers side seatcover does show a little wear as well as the saggy padding...so
perhaps re-doing it would be in order.

Door jams look super clean and tidy.

Another shot showing the dash a bit better.

Top down and ready for the drive through the mountains!

Top up and nice and snuggly warm.
Nice new top is a big benefit for the new owner.

OK...get me on a plane...driving this car through that scenery...looks
dreamy dont you think?
Engine compartment is reasonably clean and the engine has all the proper
bits in place.
Nice to see all the right air cleaner and plumbing in the right spot.

I have been told that the car is very solid and that it is a good running
machine.
based on what I see here...it sure looks to be one of the good ones.
The original paint is a huge selling point...no worries about what is underneath
it,
no hidden schlocky body repairs...just good German steel.
Good car, and reasonably priced.
