1977 VW Super Beetle Convertible Champagne Edition For Sale

This California based 77 Champagne Edition Convertible
is a clean and solid driver.

The current owner has had the car since 2008 and has kept it well.
Recent custom wheels and tires, new top boot, carpet and more.

Body looks nice and straight, paint is decent and it is very stock and unmodified.

The 8 spoke wheels give it a nice sporty look

Blue California plates

Top looks to be in decent shape and was done in black canvas

Out back is the proper 1600cc fuel injected engine
that the owner states runs well when warmed up and that is a nice driver.

The car was originally fitted with air conditioning and you can see the platform for the old piston pump compressor
there to the left of the distributor. The unit is gone obviously but the hoses and controls under the dash remain
in place.  Not sure if this could be upgraded to a modern compressor unit but I would think it would be
easier to do with a car that had A?C than trying to install a system in a car that never had it.

Looks nice and clean and dry under the engine.

Tail light lenses look bright and clear

Trunk is well trimmed with a nice carpet kit.

Spare wheel and surrounding area

Underside of the hood.

Headliner shows some aging as well as the seats.

Seats show some discoloration from age and would probably respond well to a deep cleaning.

Seat padding has broken down a fair bit on the front seats

May of 77 production sticker in the door jam

I do spy one rip in the headliner just over the passenger side hinge area.

Dash has the woodgrain finish that was a part of the Champagne package

Padded steering wheel was also a part of the Champagne cars.
This one is covered with an additional wrap obviously.

Carpet dash cover protects the dash pad.
In the center of the dash just above the shifter you can see the control switches for
the dealer installed A/C system as well as the vents peeking out just under the edge of the dash cover.

Carpets were replaced under current ownership.

Door panels look very nice

Odometer reads roughly 35,000 miles but it is believed to have rolled over at least once.
Actual mileage is undocumented.

Carpet looks great

Window seals and trim look to be in good shape

Stress crack at the top of the drivers door.
Looks like perhaps the lock cylinder is missing from the drivers side door handle as well.

Underside of the car looks quite solid and untouched

Pretty darn nice under here

Only rust I can see in the pics is this spot on the back corner of the drivers side floorpan.

Support rails look solid which is immensely important on a convertible.

Perhaps not a show car but a respectable one for sure.
The car appears to have been repainted once on the exterior, but done in the original color.

Bright and happy and ready for the road.

The top boot fitted here it looks quite fun.

License plate light differs in color from the body
which is odd but its nice to see the correct bumpers
with the original rubber bump strip along the blade.
Also appears to have the correct single tip exhaust.

Clean machine

Lots of service records included with the sale.
Ive asked the seller to look for any major rebuild receipts to help establish mileage on
major components. Over the 17 years he has had the car there has been no need to rebuild anything
and it has been a reliable toy.

Birth Certificate from VW shows production date, color and delivery port of San Francisco.
It also shows that it is a genuine Champagne edition car.

Nice one...and in white with the white interior it is a very desirable combination.
Well kept and cared for and ready for a new pair of hands on the wheel.
