1959 VW Double Cab Transporter For Sale

This is a beautiful truck.
It is a 1959 production date truck, registered as a 1960 model.
1959 was the first full year of production for the double cab.
There were some built previously by a coachbuilding firm called Binz
but as far as the VW factory built trucks...1959 was the start of it all.
For that first year of production there were some interesting minor differences from later models.
The most obvious was the side gates, that were actually pieced together from the longer single cab gates
and a seam runs down the center. In 1960 they re-tooled and had a gate without the seam and pressings in the gate that
were symetrical.
1959 was also the first year for the bigger bumpers.
The Bus was sold new at Knievel Imports in Butte Montana.

Knievel...the name sound familiar?
Thats because its in the family! Evel Knievel was the grandson of the dealership owners!
An original canvas canopy for the back is available for an extra fee if desired.

Wonderfully clean
A couple age marks, but one of the cleanest I have come across in years!
Speaking of clean...this truck is a sharp one and diring the restoration they went deep into it
with repainting the fender wells and many of the dark corners.
A very very solid example underneath

There are a couple spots underneath that were untouched, such as the area over the front beam and that over the transaxle.
Everything else has been cleaned and painted.
Splash pan is in place
Out back the engine is the correct "bastard" 40 horse.
Quite clean overall, runs excellent as well.

Exterior wise she is a stunner!
Very clean and very straight.
Side step is a nice addition
Interior is excellent and done in the right materials
Headliner, panels and visor are all correct.
Rare "ambulance fan" installed in the fresh air box.
Rear area is also well detailed.
Under the seats and mats, the floor is excellent.

In closing this is a very clean and desirable truck.
All stock and proper and restored to a nice level.
Excellent runner and driver and ready for show or go.
Finding ANY Double Cab is tough these days, but to find a 59 in this sort of shape
is a rarity indeed. This is one to buy and hold...finding another one is going to be tough!
