1967 Beetle Convertible For Sale

The 67 Beetle is well known as being one of the best years for a Beetle.
It is also a unique year
which features many special parts that are "67 only", and perhaps
that is a part of it's appeal.

This example is as about as nice as you could ever hope to find.
It has received a full pan off every nut and bolt restoration and it's
all like new.
In fact I would argue that this car is better than new...they were never
like this when they rolled off the assembly line.

To start with this was an original California car that was straight and
solid.
It still retains it's original black California plates front and back to
prove it.
(In California, the plates stay with the car...so having original plates
helps prove it's history).

Wherever possible original German parts were used.
In the case of the bumpers, clean originals were re-chromed front and back
to a dazzling finish.
Even the backside of the bumper is polished!
H-4 headlights have been installed for brighter lighting (and they look
cool too!)

Under the front hood is spotless.
Matching BRM wheel and new tire. Ultra clean wiring, detailed fuel tank
and more.

I always like to see a matching spare...so many folks dont go there...

Many detail parts have been chrome plated like this hood latch.

Super clean and proper up here.

No signs of any damage or repair to the front end.
The stock jack is included with the sale but was not installed during the
photos.

Looking good.

Everything was left clean and bare in the front end to show the quality
of what is here...not covered with
carpet or hidden by trunk lining.

Fuel guage sender cap was chromed as well.

Gas cap too.

Bottom side of hood shows smooth and pretty.

It's a VW...says so right here!
(in case there was any doubt)

German Hella lenses.

Original Karmann body badge.
Check out the reflection in the paint here...this is one NICE paint job!

All new window rubber and weatherstripping inside and out.
Windshield glass is a genuine VW part...unfortunately my photo didnt show
the stamp...but it's there.

And yes...the car is wet and in the rain.
It was a bit of a freak rainstorm and we just dealt with it. This was the
first time the car had seen
any rain to be sure. The restoration is very fresh.

The classic wheel and tire combination of BRM's with 145-15 tires up front
and

Big beefy 205-60 15 tires out back.
And good quality brand new rubber.

Body panels are mirror straight.
It takes a skilled body guy to get a black paint job right...and this guy
did it.

Ceramic coated dual exhaust gives a hint as to what hides beneath the decklid.
(note: this muffler set up has recently been changed for something a little
less obtrusive...the muffler in this photo is included in the sale though)

German Hella Euro taillight lenses too...
This sort of detail says a lot to me about the quality of the car.
The German ones are faor more expensive than the aftermarket ones and are
a heck of a lot harder to find too.
Someone that goes to this extent to hunt down the best parts isnt likely
to have scrimped on the important stuff.

The original black plates were left original and untouched...so they have
a little patina.
The registration is now current on the car and the paperwork is all in
order. The car has a clean clear title.

OK...here is where it gets fun.
No stocker 1500cc unit in there, this is a pro built 2110 cc powerplant
with the legendary
Weber 48 ida carbs and all the goodies.
Ported and polished heads, Gene Berg deep sump and oil pump with external
filter.
Kymco fully ceramic coated full flow heater boxes and exhaust.
It is freshly built and runs like a stripe assed ape.
Talk about a fun driver... yeee haw!!

The engine compartment is spotless.
Detail of the carb with polished manifolds.

Nothing but the best... Gene Berg linkage.

Velocity stack is neatly trimmed so that the decklid will close properly.

Black painted case and grey powder coated tins give some nice contrast.

Deep sump on the engine, fully functional heater with ceramic coated heater
boxes.

Pro-Street gearbox by Rancho with all the top of the line bits.
All clean and detailed.

Floor pan is stunningly smooth and clean.

Adjustable front beam, front sway bar, KYB GR2 shocks and all of it ultra
clean.
Note how all the nuts and bolts are new and shiny...gotta love that!

Back out in the rain I think you can now see that this is no normal 67
Convertible we are dealing with.

Inside the quality and attention to detail continue.
Empt GT wood rimmed steering wheel, ultra stock and clean dashboard

Excellent fit and finish to the seats.
3 point retractable seat belts installed for safety.

Rear seat exceptional as well.

Excellent fit to the headliner and top.

Sun visors were not installed at the time of the photos but will be prior
to delivery.

The red interior really looks sweet against the black.

Deatil shot of the steering wheel...shines like jewelry!

Square weave oatmeal carpet with contrasting binding...excellent.

Gotta have the Gene Berg shifter!

Super clean instrumentation.
.

Original radio with the proper 67 only knobs...awesome.
Radio is not working by the way... everything else is.

Correct 67 only window cranks all the way around.

Just a stunning combination...really clean and classy.

Matching stayfast canvas top boot with red piping.

Excellent detailing in the door jams and corners.

Nice fit and finish to everything.

All like new.

The car is currently located in Reno Nevada but retains a California registration
and clean clear title.
There have been some noteable upgrades done since these photos were taken...now
the exhaust has been changed
to something a little less obtrusive and the front end has received drop
spindles for a little lower ride level.
I will post a couple of "today" photos shortly so you can see
the changes.
Condition wise the car is every bit as nice and proper as you see it here.
I know the owner well
and he is a very particular car guy that knows how to treat stuff right.
I trust him when he says that it is
better now than it was when he got it (which is when these photos were
taken).
He has reportedly invested another $4000 in work and upgrades since he
got the car about 6 months ago!

So there you have it...a truly cherry car inside , outside and upside down.
The car is one heck of a deal for the asking price too.
With decent 67 Convertible base cars selling for around $10K these days,
to replicate what you have here
by going through a reputable VW restoration shop you would spend another
$25K (or more) just on the restoration
not to mention the performance drivetrain and buying the car in the first
place.
With all that in perspective...you re getting a lot for your money with
this black beauty!
