1968 VW Bus For Sale

This stunningly pretty 68 Bay Window is located in sunny Southern California
and is the result of an extensive professional restoration that was completed just a few years ago.
It has been driven and enjoyed by its owner for a while now but he has the urge for a split screen Bus
and his beloved Bay has to go to make the room and provide some of the funds.

It really has a nice presence to it with an excellent stance, great colors and cool wheel choice.
Beautiful inside and out.

The owner sent in for the birth certificate from VW and it shows production in March of 1968
with the destination of the good ol USA.  Its interesting to see that it was painted in a "special color"
according to the certificate.  The original color was red and by all appearances was "Chianti Red"
which was available in 1968...but perhaps it was something just a shade off from that.
The repaint was done in very close to the original shade that was on the Bus and it really looks amazing.

The owner has a binder full of all the many many receipts for the restoration.
Top level parts and well respected builders and craftsmen were involved and a lot of money was spent.

Mechanically everything was rebuilt from bumper to bumper.
KCR built the freeway flyer transmission.

Engine receipt for the 2007cc engine from Performance Workshop with 44 Weber Carbs and all the trimmings.

Paint and body reportedly cost $14,000 and the results are self evident...this is one beautiful Bus.

Front end was done by Old Speed and featured Wilwood disc brakes.
Rear brakes are factory drum, steering box was rebuilt, all new tie rods, etc.

Original windshield was retained (very rare to see these days)
There are a couple scratches and tiny flaws with it, but I respect the use of the original German parts
wherever possible. All new window rubber and body seals.

Chrome VW emblem, nice clean vent trim.

Lights and lenses are excellent.

There is a scratch in the paint on the bumper down low here...would be a pretty simple repair
but really this is the only real notable flaw that I found.

OldSpeed front end, nice shocks, disc brakes, all new components at the time of the build.

The underside is not "show detailed" or anything, but it all looks solid and sound.

Rocker panels are clean and solid.

Super solid original floors and outriggers, etc.
The factory undercoating still holding firm and looking good.

Obviously you could install a rubber mat or carpet back here, but it is so refreshing to see a floor this nice and solid
I don't blame him for a minute for choosing to leave it exposed!
