1963 VW Type 3 Notchback For Sale

The Notchback model of the TYpe 3 line has always had a special place in the hearts of VW
enthusiasts and this example, a well preserved original 1963 model is the things that dreams are made of.
Just over 100k original kilometers since new, the car is all original paint (except one fender) and still features its original interior as well.

The car also has some very rare and desirable period accessories such as the rear window blinds and gravel guards
and is an impressive " survivor" that has been well celebrated and talked about online.

I love that it is all stock and un-altered, this is just as VW intended.
Not lowered or pimped out...just plain , clean and simple.

Being an early model, it is quite pure in design and embellishment with no side trim,
painted reflector bases and no chrome on the hood or license plate light.

The factory VDO tachometer is a rare and desired accessory.

Fog lights and German front plate are a nice touch.
Front apron looks amazing, the car is a very solid and dry example.

Period Michelin ZX radials are a great touch.
Very clean and dry underneath.

The car spent some time in California in the hands of an enthusiast here, but was sold
a couple years back to the current owner, a Volkswagen dealer in New Mexico

Lighted "D" sign is a great add on.
The European flat taillights also look awesome.
Hollywood "Bob Smith" dealer frame is another tough to find item.

Ill come back to the interior here shortly...but it is fantastic!
Nice sheepskins protect the original front seat upholstery from the sun and bum.
Check out the "half circle" horn ring as well...

Back underneath for a quick peek...  she is SOLID!!

Correct thin lip hubcaps and early trim rings.

Stock stance.

Back to that great original interior.

Rear seat looks amazing as to the door panels

Proper early dash pad is also in impressive condition.

The seat fabric on the seating portions of the drivers seat, do show some wear, but remain intact.

Rear window blinds are fantastic as is the rare little luggage rail at the top of the seat back.
Headliner looks fantastic for an original car as well.

Correct original door panels and armrests.
Door pockets are tight, door handle has the correct ivory cup and the window cranks are the originals as well

Extremely rare factory sunroof car as well!
Not a whole lot of these around!

Rear trunk looks insanely clean

Under dash parcel tray is an original accessory as well.
That dash pad looks amazing!

Stellar car. Original carpets, nice coco mats, correct shift knob.
The more I look, the more I like!

The original 1500cc engine is all stock and proper with the correct side draft carburetor and all the trimmings.
Smal details such as the plastic cap over the fuel pump and the short Bosch coil are super hard to find
and everything is here and in place on this car.

I love the stainless stone guards on the rear fenders.
Nice to see the proper stock original exhaust in place.

The floorpans are superb

Very impressive

The car is all original paint except for the drivers side front fender

The other slight oddity to note on the car is that the replaced front fender on the drivers side is from a slightly newer model and as a result
the side marker light is in a different spot than the drivers side.  Its not something you notice right off the bat, but once you see it,
it is hard to "un-see".

Another shot of that awesome tachometer.

You can just catch the odometer in this pic...it just recently turned over 100k Kilometers and currently reads
2469km at the time of these photos. That is less than 64,000 original miles on the car.

Fantastic periof am/fm radio in the dash.
Note the correct heater control knobs with the blue dots.
This stuff is pure "unobtanium" if it is missing.

Gorgeous.

In closing this car pretty much has it all.
The rarity factor is well up there with it being a factory sunroof car and being a low mileage
all original example. The added appeal of the rare early accessories push it further over the top as well.
