1969 VW Beetle Convertible For Sale
The car is much nicer than the photos show...it is a very classic "Cal
Looker" with mild paint color, stock trimmings,
nice polished Porsche alloy wheels and it gets many compliments on the
roadway.
Top up or down it's a good looker.
Top down is better of course...
All the window rubber and top seals are excellent, chrome is very nice
as well...good attention to detail
in the restoration process. Paint finish is very nice and the mild
custom
interior compliments the exterior color perfectly.
Seats are done in a tween and vinyl combination that adds a bit of
class
to the car while retaining a vintage feel.
Dashboard is pretty stock with the exception of some added
intrumentation
and a modern audio unit.
Gene Berg shifter is the only real interior clue that something a
little
special hides beneath the decklid.
Seats and panels are in great shape...seat belts are in place in all
positions
so you can haul the kids to soccer practice.
Very clean and well done.
Just a good looking arrangement dont you think?
Stock steering wheel is nice to see...so many have been swapped out for
custom jobs...
Carpet is in excellent condition and is the high dollar German square
weave
wool stuff
which really adds class to the interior.
Carpet is nice!
Door jams are clean and well painted.
Stock visors and mirror.
Extra instruments are nicely packed into the stock speaker location.
Panasonic CD player is a nice upgrade over the stock AM radio!
The car has been a very prolific attendee to many So Cal VW events and
has been well received.
Headliner is done in the stock pinpoint vinyl
Perhaps just the slightest age to the material but no rips or damage or
stains.
Tucked in well in the corners.
Hinge covers have yellowed a little over time, but are intact.
Top opens well and folds back nice...a top boot in high quality canvas
keeps it nice when open.
Top seals are all in excellent condition.
Top itself is in nice shape with no damage.
Perhaps just a little pulling up along the edge which is quite
common...but
overall in great shape.
Bodywork and paint is very nice indeed...the photos truly dont do it
justice
in this regard.
A happy little machine isnt it?
Big ol smile...you just want to pat it on it's hood!
Under the hood it is nice to see that the car is clean and straight and
well sorted.
Wiring looks very nice.
A carpet kit covers all the stuff in there normally...I wanted to show
you what was below it though...
Ahh...much cleaner...and yes, there is a matching Porsche alloy spare
wheel
and tire that tucks in here.
The wheels are very nicely polished and feature chrome lugs and
excellent
rubber on all four corners.
Disc brakes up front help bring the car back to the ground well.
Black California plates have been on the car since new, and I believe
the
Lakewood Motors frame has been too.
It is a very solid car and any rust that was present at the time of the
restoration (just minimal stuff)
was properly repaired so it is as solid as it can be!
Remember that secret I mentioned at the start?
Here it is...tucked neatly beneath the decklid is a turbocharged 1915cc
engine!!
This motor was built by the fine folks at OldSpeed and features Jeff
Denham
ported CB Performance 044 heads
and a whole long laundry list of top quality parts.
The engine runs great and has been very reliable for it's owner...he is
not afraid to turn the key and go anywhere with it!
The turbo is currently set at 6lbs of boost but can be cranked up to
15lbs
if you really want a wild ride.
It is tuned to run on normal pump gas and it really runs nice...despite
being a monster when you stab the pedal,
it also is quite tame in traffic.
Custome exhaust with heater boxes, all ceramic coated.
Deep oil sump, nice chrome traction bar.
Transmission was fully rebuilt just 1000 miles ago.
Brakes are excellent, front end was rebuilt with new ball joints and
such.
Floorpans are very solid as are the heater channels and support
rails...all
done very nicely.
Now that youve seen the engine...the car looks even cooler doesnt it?
I like a car that is a bit of a sleeper like this one...makes for some
fun suprises at the stop lights.
The car was featured in 2008 in lets Play VW Magazine from Japan!
Here it is at the 2009 VW Classic in Irvine California.
Wow!!
The next photo can be of the car in your garage!
The owner has invested well over $40,000 in the build on this car!!
It an emotional sale for him...the car is truly his pride and joy, but
every good thing must come to an end
as the say, and now the opportunity for the car to find a new loving
home
is here.
It is priced to sell and less than half the build cost...someone is
going
to score a deal here!
Asking only
$14,000
What a deal!!
