1969 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale

If you have been in the So Cal VW scene for longer than 5 minutes, you have probably heard of
the DKP. Der Kleiner Panzers is a long standing VW club that has been active since the earliest days of the
now legendary "California Look". From day one they have been known for clean, understated and shockingly fast VWs.
Its not a club you "join", it is one you are chosen to be in...so the car, and the person need to have the right stuff.
This 69 Beetle is a club member's car...one of the very few "late model" Beetles in the club.

This So Cal based 1969 Beetle is very clean, very subtle, and has the traditional Cal Look vibe to it.
Original paint color Savannah Beige was resprayed, excellent quality, mild lowering, classic Porsche alloys
and of course the monster engine out back... mild at a glance, but wild at the push of the pedal !

I love the subtle look...pull up next to some guy in a hot Camaro in this at a stop light, and then leave him in the dust.
That is what this kind of car is all about...a very enjoyable sector of the VW scene indeed!
If you have not experienced it...you should!

The car is clean and for the most part quite stock in appearance and trimming.
The modifications are very few, such as the trimless "Cal Look" window rubber,
the blacked out pop out window frames to match...

DKP hood badge where the VW logo normally goes.
(Note: to comply with club rules...the badge and stickers will be removed prior to sale)

And the powerplant... the signature part of any DKP ride.

Transmission has about 3000 miles on it since the rebuild.

Deep sump, auxillary filter, stainless braided lines, top quality exhaust and all quite clean.

I like this photo because it is almost timeless...a classic California Look car in the front yard
of a classic Orange County tract home...

Blue California plates, amber topped "Euro" style taillight lenses.

The sound system looks very subtle from a glance,
because the Amplifier, crossovers and subwoofer are behind the backseat under a handmade package tray cover.
The front speakers are 6” Polk separates with crossovers, and the rear are Pioneer 6x9’s.
An Alpine CD head unit with iPod control in the dash, with iPod and MP3 connections in the glove box
is connected to a 800W Kenwood 4 channel amp, 2 channels driving the 4 speakers
and the other 2 channels are bridged for the 8” Bazooka subwoofer.
It is plenty of power to hear loud and clear over the gurgle of the 48’s at freeway cruising speed.

Headliner is nicely fitted.

Stock door panels.

Cal Look rubber.

Door jams are clean and tidy.

Straw hat... go to the local drags and watch for a sea of these around some shiny VWs...good chance it is DKP! (LOL!!)

Stock seats are well trimmed...racing belts fitted.
Gene Berg shifter in place as well.

Original owners manual.

Aftermarket steering wheel, Monster tach with shift light and the Berg shifter.

Speakers neatly mounted without cutting in the front quarters.

Dash is very clean and stock.

I pod hook up in the glove box!

Wiring is all stock and in good shape.
Audio cables are neatly routed.

Trunk liner in place...matching alloy wheel and tire for the spare.

Car is very straight and solid...not a patched up wreck.
Current owner is the third owner of the car since new.

Everything looks very very solid on the body.

This is directly under the battery where you can just see the starting of a little rust...this is the worst of it
(and that is really nothing)...the rest of the car is wonderfully solid and un-welded.

Very straight and sound chassis.

No signs of rust in the fender wells.

Looks like a bumper mount broke free and was welded back.
Front end is a stock front end, rebuilt at the time of the restoration, lowering handled by dropped spindles so the ride is very good.

When the front end was rebuilt, a new steering box was installed, new ball joints and tire rod ends.
Brakes of course were done all the way around.

More solid metal.

Original undercoating is all pretty much there (just a few chips)

Not show car...but very sound.
The car was built to be a driver, and it has been a very reliable one for the owner.

Bumpers are clean, chrome is good. apron looks very straight.

Stailess muffler is well tucked underneath the car.

Auxillary oil cooler with fan keps the temperatures well in check.
With the transmission gearing it is perfect for highway cruising.

Engine compartment is so clean... simple and sanitary with an eye on quality, not "bling factor".

The Porsche alloy wheels are reproductions that have been polished by the master, Al Reed, and the center caps hand painted.
Stock drum brakes out back.

Disc brakes up front...tires are excellent.

Front apron very clean.

Smooth body and paint.

Nice workmanship.

The car seems very well done to me.
It could easily be put back to stock if ever desired, but as it sits it is a very
nice clean looker and mechanically it is excellent and runs very quick and smooth.

Nice.

In closing this is a neat car.
It has the quality, it has the performance, and the fact that it is a "late model" (if you can call a 69 "late" any more)
keeps the price down to a very affordable level. Compare this to the other DKP car we have listed currently at well over $20k...
Not much difference for the money in my book.
