1968 VW Double Cab Transporter For Sale

OK...I'm gonna lay it out here...I freakin love Double Cabs.
Back in the 80's when I was young and free I had a double cab that I did all up cool and I ran the wheels
off that baby all around So Cal. Room for me and my buddies and roof for our stuff in the back.
Really a fantastic unique and usable model to have, and that is a big part of why they are so popular today.

The So Cal based example is a 1968 model, the first of the "bay window" design
and it is owned and was restored by a retired shop teacher that has owned it and loved it
for many many years.  He talks about it fondly as his absolute favorite to drive.
Its time though for it to find a good home.

The truck is very clean inside and out.
It is not a "show car" restoration, and was never done to be that, but to be a very clean and nice driver.
It has been well maintained and kept indoors and it really needs nothing but a new pair of hands behind the wheel.

The truck is very stock and complete overall.
It has the right double cab only rear seat and stand, the interior is as nice as the exterior.

Floors are nice and solid in the truck.

Dash looks awesome, upholstery and panels are excellent as well.

Nice Clarion stereo in the dash and speakers mounted in the rear compartment

Floor inside the rear door.

Chrome bumpers, grille and emblem give it a little added style.

Clean title and the tags are up to date.

Odometer reads just over 75k miles.

Very clean inside and I like the color choices.

Rear bumper is a bit tight on the corner on the drivers side.

Looks pretty sound in the fender wells.

Nice restored steering wheel and the cup holder is a nice accessory as well.

Stock 14" wheels and caps.

I spotted one rust hole up deep in the drivers side wheel house.

Signs of some minor bodywork at some point in its past here.
Nothing tragic, but its here.

Headliner looks great

Rockers seem nice and solid

Surface mount speakers on the divider wall.

Rear seat looks great and is fitted with seat belts.

Door panels are in nice shape

Body tags are all present

Front seat looks fantastic.
Retractable seat belts fitted up front.

Super clean!

Looks like drivers side floor has had some rust repair, but solidly done.

Splash pan is in place!
(its amazing to me how often these are gone)

Good solid truck

The bed has been coated in a durable bedliner material .
Looks quite solid and straight.

A couple little "load dings" on the rear gate, but overall the gates are in great shape.

Such a versatile design to have the gates all fold flat like this!

I really like the chrome touches!

Windshield and all glass is excellent.
Rubber seals all in nice shape as well and the area below the windshield is very clean and solid.
Pinstripe is a nice touch, but is done in the striping tape, so it could be easily removed if desired.

Gate detail

Good clean machine!

Smooth running 1600cc single port engine.
All the proper bits in place.
Really a great runner and driver and very well maintained.

The owner does say that the gearbox is a tad bit noisier than his other VW Bus, but that
it shifts smooth and does not pop out of any gears and has been fantastic for him through his ownership.
He has located and acquired a full disc brake front end for the Bus that he intended to install
but never got around to it. That is included in the sale if desired.

Nose looks great down low

Nice and happy, this one is!

In closing this is definitely a face that more than just a mother will love.
Great runner and driver, good solid body and chassis, very clean interior and a well cared for past.
