This is without a doubt the very coolest VW Bus we have ever come through
our hands.
It is a true 1 owner original survivor and it's also one of the most desireable
models of VW
that there is, the 23 Window Deluxe Microbus with Walk Thru front seats.
Original paint, original number matching engine, original black California
plates, heck even the
original sales invoice is here from when the owners bought it brand new
in Los Angeles in 1962.
It has been here in Southern California it's whole life and has been amazingly
well maintained.
Every tank of gas was documented, the Bus regularly serviced by either
the VW dealer or top end
independant shops around Los Angeles and Orange County. Big pile of the
service receipts to prove it.
And the buyer of this one will be buying it directly from the original
owner!
Not only is the Bus amazing all by itself, the history of it makes it even
more special.

Here's a photo dating back to 1968 showing the Bus in use by the family.
That;s a whole load of kids!
The Bus was used by Emelia, the wife of the family as her daily driver
for many many years.

The Bus took the family on many adventures as well, including this 1970
trip to the Sequoia forest.

They camped in it and had a wonderful life. This photo from 1967 shows
one of the adventures.
There are many more original photos of the family and the Bus that are
included in the sale
(photos digitally...but prints can be made)

Here's the original owners today with their trusty companion.
The Bus has been in storage for about 14 years and they have finally decided
that it is time to find
it the best possible home with a true VW enthusiast, who will preserve
and pamper the Bus for years to come.
Its an emotional sale of course, but they feel it is wise to find it the
best home possible while they are able to.

We have taken the Bus in and supplied some serious hours detailing and
preserving the vehicle to bring it to glory once again.
The original paintwork has polished up beautifully and it has the most
wonderful look and feel to it.
There is simply nothing that compares to a good original vehicle.

It's not showroom perfect but with 44 years of use and 130,000 miles, it
does show extremely well.

Here's a quick shot of the interior, we are just finishing the interior
detailing this week and will have more detailed photos
shortly. The door panels and floor mats are all original, the seats and
headliner were redone through a dealer back
many years ago and their patina matches the Bus beautifully.

Original untouched dashboard with all the right stuff.
The radio still works by the way...

The engine compartment cleaned up beautifully as well and the original
numbers matching engine has just
13,000 miles on it since it's most recent rebuild.

Here's another shot showing the service stickers on the engine lid and
a better shot of the clean original engine.
Still a little detailing to do but it sure is looking awesome!
It runs and drives excellent by the way...

Here's the original sale invoice from Downtown Volkswagen in Los Angeles.
Purchased on July 7th 1962.
The chassis number and engine number are listed here and everything still
matches today.

The crand total when new was $2789.00.
Anyone have a time machine?
We are still finalizing the detailing of the Bus and have chronicled
the whole process on an online
forum for the VW faithful to enjoy.
Here is a link to the post, there have been well over 200 posts so far
and now signs of it slowing.

While there are always a scant few party poopers out there, the vast
majority of the posts
help solidify just how awesome this find is. Its a VW nut's dream machine.
We will be posting finalized photos of the Bus once we complete the detailing.
As you can see by the posted photos so far that it is coming out gorgeous.
Stay tuned for these updates and call or email with any questions.
Its a once in a lifetime find and I suspect it will find a home quickly.
