1965 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale

Restoration was handled by the legendary Buddy Hale of T1 Restorations.
Anyone in the scene for the past few years have heard his name and seen
his work.
This guy is impressive to say the least. For other examples of Buddy's
work...check out the
blue and the brown split window Beetles in our hall of fame section.

So rather than bore you with more pretty shots of fall foliage and a nice
shiny white Beetle...
Lets get right down to business and look at the things that make this car
one incredible bargain for the asking price.

Every square millimeter of the car has been touched by skilled hands and
the results are obvious.
Every nut and bolt carefully attended to. Chassis and suspension all powder
coated
98% if the hardware is original German stuff, all cleaned and re-cad plated
so they look like factory.
Look deep in by the transmission...you could literally eat off this stuff...
but dont you dare!
Wouldnt want to dirty it up would you?
Beautifully detailed everywhere.
Paint finish is excellent even in the spots you would never see...such
as on the body above the transmission!
Extremely tidy.
OK...there are a couple water spots under here...50 lashings with a wet
noodle to the detailer!
(but one wipe with the diaper and this all shines right back up)

No fooling around...this is as clean as they get.

Front fender well

Man...I dream of having a car this clean... "come on Lotto numbers!"

Wow.

Back up top...the humble little face of the car is begging you to take
him home.

Obviously the exterior paintwork is impeccable as well.
Excellent panel fit, chrome is superb, new soft bits everywhere.
Again, better than new.

The BRM wheels add a little of that classic Cal Look flavor as do the T
bar bumpers.
Bolt on stock wheels and bumpers and the car loks like it did right off
the assembly line.

The stainless muffler hints at something other than the mild 40horse powerplant
that came in it originally
But we will get to that shortly...

Super straight down the sides and glassy smooth paint finish.

Stainless steel side trim, color matched running boards and fender beading.

Everything fit like factory.

Super clean

All new window rubbers

Clean and bright chrome and lenses

US spec headlights

BRM wheels feature new rubber as well. Note the black lug nuts for a super
clean look.

Aluminum hex stock T bar bumpers are super sweet.
Polished stainless A-1 Muffler

The engine at first glance doesnt look like much either. As the exterior
was done, a high level of restraint was used
to keep the engine looking pretty humble. But beneath those black cylinder
tins lurks a 150 horsepower 1914cc
beast that was built by the master AJ Sims. Best drag strip time so far
is 13.8 at 96mph in the 1/4 mile and that was on a day
where the car was driven 180 miles round trip to the track...so not only
is it a very respectable drag strip stomper
it was built to be a reliable and very streetable car.

The "Kadron" carbs were built and dialed in by "Mr Kadron"
himself and are now 46mm units.
Other specs on the motor are as follows...
1914cc, DPR Crank and 10.5lb flywheel, Porsche oil squirters
Scat stock length H beam rods, Web 110/163 cam, straight cut gears.
Scat 1.25 rockers, AJ Sims pocket port heads with 40 X 35 valves
SVDA distributor with Compufire ignition
Tiger A-1 lowdown 1 5/8" header with 2.5 Renn Kafer muffler in polished
stainless.
Gene Berg rear mount, Gene Berg full flow oil kit
German VW fanshroud w/ venturi ring, heater outlets removed
Welded fan and more

Dyno tested at 149hp and 144 pounds of torque...pretty awesome.
Super clean and tidy underneath.
Trans is a stock 65 VW unit with a 4:37 ring and pinion, Welded gears,
Gene Berg intermediate mount.

Show or go...it's all up to you.
Its a car that can do both.

The interior is also as fresh and as flawless as you could ever dream of.

Two tone door panels

Proper grey rubber mat and German square weave carpets.

Seats are done in the proper 65 stitch pattern and in a great material
combination.
Original owners manuals and service books, tool roll and original 65 Beetle
sales brochure too!

Gene Berg shifter.

Seat frames are gorgeous!

Stock dash, no radio, super sanitary.

Odometer shows 10,787 miles.
Actual miles on the car since new are not documented, but very few on the
car since completion of the restoration.
Owner states about 2500 miles since the car was completed in May 06.

as to what that big motor is doing out back.

super clean factory look.

Day night visor is a nice little accessory.

Headliner is excellent. Visors are new.

Impeccable detailing in the door jams.

Even the pedals look like new.

Headliner is installed properly to the factory design.

Impressed yet?

Open wide and the superb detailing continues.

Original paper paint code sticker...Pearl White L-87

Super clean workmanship.
This is not a quickie job...Ove never met Buddy Hale face to face, but
Ive talked to him on the phone.
There is little wonder why he has a line of people waiting for his restoration
services.

This blows my mind...he even recreated the factory inspection marks in
grease pencil !!

All new wiring by the way...

Original glove box

Excellent wiring...very clean.

Hood latch cad plated like new.

Full seet of Erco drag wheels with M&H slicks are available for purchase
with the car if desired.

What more can I say?
Its a no holds barred, top level restoration.
Very freshly done and better than factory.
Nice go-fast motor and simple clean Cal Look style.
Easily returnable to stock specs if you ever felt the need.
But why would you?
It's just way too cool just like it is.
Whoever ends up with this one is going to spend the first few nights in
the garage just drooling.
So go get some clean towels or a big bib and grab this one fast. Its an
incredible deal for the money.
