1969 Baja Bug Street Beetle For Sale

Remember when you were a kid playing with Hot Wheels and you used to pretend that you could actually get in the car
and drive it? Well...as we grow up, we transform that imagination into our real world and some of us live out those
fantasies with the cars we drive. This car is a prime example of that.

Talk about an eye catcher!!!
This wild street Baja attracts more attention than you could ever imagine.
Kids young and old will flock to you to check this baby out!!!

The story of this car is a good one too.
The car has had two owners since new...the first one until just last year!!
This gentleman spent a lifetime tinkering and modifying this little Beetle...it was a true labor of love
for him and when he passed on a short time back, he willed it to his best friend who used to ride
shotgun in the machine on so many adventures.

The best friend unfortunately had no place to keep the car and after some deliberation figured it would be best
to get it into the hands of someone who loved it as much as the original owner did.
And that was the quest! It was sold to a gentleman in Oregon that owns it today
and unfortunately he is having health issues and now needs to sell it.

The car was turned Baja many moons ago, and the current paint scheme was first applied about 20 years ago.
I am sure it has been freshened up more recently than that as it is in such nice condition and it is obvious
that it was one of those "works in progress" as there are accessories and trinkets both old and new, on it.

The "wide eye" Baja kit is an attractive one and this one is fitted with all the bells and whistles.
The bright flame paint job just screams "FUN"!.
Nice tube bumpers front and back...

Pinstriping and airbrushing by "Kelly"...nice work!

Cool little modern pin spot driving lights.

Mesh headlight guards.

Awesome wheels and tires!!
This is the closest thing I have seen to a real life "Hot Wheels" wheel...looks great, and with the knock offs and Wolfsburg
emblems, raised white letters and even the red dice valve stem caps...it sets up quite the set of rolling stock.

Rear wheels are similarly outfitted. Tires are nearly brand new on all four corners.

Hot Rod baby... so cool!!!
I love the color matched running boards by the way...looks smooth!

The flames continue up the back fenders.
I like the black stone guard area too.

Taillights are amber topped units.

Big tube bumpers out back too.
And the engine is very sweet.

The engine is a Scat motor, displacing 1915cc!
It has just about 3,000 miles on it since being built.

The engine is very clean and well dressed with lots of pretty bits and performance parts.
The serpentine belt set up is very nice, billet dip stick and oil filler, stainless braided lines
12 volt alternator, dual carbs, performance distributors, deep oil sump, ceramic coated header system
and some nice paint and chrome.

The carbs are 40mm Solex units.

The header exhaust system is pure dune buggy bliss when it comes to the exhaust note.
If they dont see you coming...they will sure hear you!!

Nice to see the deep sump and check out the high end pushrod tubes.
Im sure this was an expensive mill...and it's pretty fast, even with the big tires on it.
If it's not over 2 liter...its pretty darn close to it at least!

I need to figure out how to put sound bites on the website here...this one would wake the baby!

Third brake light.

More great flames

This was obviously a well loved street car...always garaged and pampered...not taken off road for thrashings...

The big fat wheels and tires help express that "Toy" feeling so well!

Awesome!

And it has a sunroof too!

Under the front hood is nicely trimmed out.

JVC CD Changer

A few dash plaques from past shows in the 80's.
Apparantly there was a huge pile of trophies that the car won over the years
but they were unfortunately discarded after the owner's passing.

Fuse box

Chrome fire extinguisher.

Chrome hood hinges

Under hood is painted as well

The interior is wild fun as well and is fully loaded with stuff.
Check out that wild billet aluminum dashboard and all the instrumentation!

Scat Procar seats are fantastic.

Grant GT steering wheel

Speedometer mounted under the dash.

Monster Tach mounted above.

JVC head unit in the middle.

Full array of gauges under the dash.
I spy an XM radio antenna too.

Extra interior lights, an equalizer for the stereo too.

Switches for the assortment of exterior lighting...there are red lights in the fenderwells and underneath the car as well.

Johnny's Speed and Chrome trigger shifter!

Custom door panels

Wild inner door handles with courtesy lighting.

Door sill trims

Speakers mounted in the center console.

Coco mats and custom pedals

Nice chrome window cranks

Cool red seatbelts

Back seat is very clean and nice.

More speakers on the custom rear deck.

Bask side of the seats have storage pockets.

Scat makes these seats...Ive had some in one of my personal cars and they are very sweet!

I did spy one small tear in the drivers side seat back down real low...

The moon roof, pop up sunroof is cleanly installed.

Day/night rear view mirror.

Underneath the car is very solid and sound.

IRS rear suspension... trans shifts fine and the car is a good driver.
It sat for about two years and has recently been put back on the road...a fresh battery is all it took!

In closing I really like this car.
Yeah I know...it's not the normal Cal Looker or stock restored Beetle that we normally have on the website
and I think that is why I like it. It seems well built, the looks are wild and fun, and if my kids had their way
it would already be in my garage...when they saw the photos...they flipped out!!
A lot of car for the money, and more fun that you can imagine!
