1957 Single Cab Transporter For Sale

There is something ever so cool about the Transporters...part Bus, part truck
totally fun and funky and useful beyond all measure.
This super clean example comes to us from the Portland Oregon area where
it's owner keeps it and cares for it like a member of his family.

It has a very clean and pretty appearance to it and has obviously been restored to a very clean
driver level. Certainly nice enough to show as well.

The truck is well detailed wherever you look..chrome is bright,
glass is good, all the rubber and trim is clean and in great shape.

Fents in the door windows have been replaced...everything looks good.

Stock 15" wheels with chrome hubcaps.

Tires are like new and with the all terrain tread give the truck a very serious machine look to it.

Rockers are smooth.

Looks quite nice down here

I love the early pressed bumpers on the 58 and earlier Type 2's...makes a big difference
in the look of the vehicle.

The tail gates are all in nice shape and all panels line up nice and this is pretty rare to find with a truck like this.

Looks like a toy!

The gates have a diamond plate panel attached to them to help protect them from sliding loads
this has always been an issue with these trucks as the open center panels of the gates are just a single panel...
you get a dent on the inside...you get a poke out bump on the outside.
Back in the early days of this truck's existance someone welded an inner panel to the gates
this did a fantastic job of preserving them and they are super straight as a result.
The aluminum panels are attached on top of this metal to give it a little more flash.
It is not 100% factory this way of course...but is significantly more functional!

The bed itself has been sprayed with a modern bedliner coating to help protect the metal.

The gates down...this is quite the platform to put stuff on...very functional...why dont they do this today???

Hinge detail

Crank start!!
Yes, this has the original 36 horse engine in place and it runs fantastic.

Speedometer has been restored and looks great!

Steering wheel is excellent as well.

Nice photo...  by the way...mad props to my buddy Shane from Dub Box for
snapping these photos.  Shane is producing some really cool VW Bus-like trailers
that are really awesome.

Interior is cleanly done as well and very stock.

Door panels have the proper pockets, all controls are cleanly painted.

Original jack has been restored and sits under the seat in the little stash box spot.

Behind the seat is cleanly painted.

New seat belts installed.

Seat is done in simple black vinyl...very good shape

The back of the cab around the rear window has been insulated with foam.

Looks to have been done quite clean.

Dancing girl included!

Original door glass

Chrome is nice on the handles.

Underside of the truck is very solid and clean

Inside of the treasure chest area as well looks good.

There is a very very cool slide out drawer in the treasure chest area here...you can see the guide on the floor and the rails it runs on at the top.

Between the wood rails here is a nylon sheet that helps the drawer slide out smoothly...it is really slick!

This shot shows the bed sheet metal from below.
It has some average dings and dents to it but with the bed liner material on the top side it hides most of that.

So here is the drawer!!!
How cool it THAT??

This makes access to the stuff in the treasure chest so easy!!

Really well done and a great idea.

"here's your sign"...LOL!!

Treasure chest door

It comes really far out which makes it a breeze to get stuff out. Without this it is a crazy challenge at times to get your stuff from the back corners
it is a long way across the truck to reach!!

Deck lid prop

Stock taillights and period reflectors.

Battery area is clean
Still 6 volt electrics

Engine number

Very complete and stock engine in here and it runs like a top!
You arent going anywhere fast with just 36 horses,
but the transmission has been upgraded so gearing is a little taller and top speed is improved over stock.
In addition, the transmission is set up for the 12 volt flywheel, so if you did want to bolt in
a larger displacement engine, it would be a breeze!!

Pretty cleanly detailed wherever you look

Those reflectors are a huge help with night time visibility...a common issue with this style
taillight and dim 6 volt bulbs.

Underside of the engine is very clean and dry.

The paint is nice but not perfect...there is a paint blister starting on one of the gates as an example

Just little flaws

Pretty straight down the sides

Bullet front turn signals

Nice painted emblem

Under pedal tray is a custom made version of the original

Underside is solid.

Yumm...love those pressed bumpers!

Back of cab looks great.

Treasure chest door is nice and straight

I love these knobbies!!

Such a sweet truck!

In closing this is a very nice example.
Well restored to a nice level...not flawless, but that is a good thing.
This one you can actually use as a truck as well as show well at the VW events!
