1967 VW Kombi For Sale

This 1967 Standard Microbus (or Kombi) is located in Clearlake California
(closest large town would be Napa)
It is in the hands of an older gentleman who has been a long time car fanatic.
He has put a lot of time and effort into the exterior of this Bus and into the mechanicals to make it run and driver proper
and the final step needed is to do the interior.

The paint and body is done very very nicely , the finish is smooth and the body straight, good door gaps, etc.

The wood slat roof rack was been wonderfully restored with exotic hardwood slats and the removeable signs out of the same material.

Looks fantastic.

The front mounted spare tire features a color matched hard cover and genuine VW emblem.

The Bus has a long time California history and still retains it's original black plates and
front plate frame. Its is very solid underneath with no rust issues.
What rust there was prior to the restoration was properly dealt with and any metal replaced was the correct
VW pattern stuff and cleanly finished.

One of the most interesting features on the Bus is the rear fender skirts.
These are not a home built deal, but a genuine German steel accessory that is extremely rare!
They are removeable of course and the factory wheel arch remains underneath if you preferred the factory look.

Being a 67 model this Bus features factory 12 volt electrics and a 1500cc engine.
The engine in the Bus is the original one by the way and it was fully rebuilt about 100 miles ago!
mechanically it is excellent and is a strong runner and driver according to the owner.

The color combination is Velvet Green and white...and I must say it is one of my very favorites!

Great looking Bus and the background isnt shabby either!!

The dashboard is totally stock and un-altered and is cleanly painted.
A small auxillary gauge is mounted under the dash at one spot.
The radio delete plate is not commonly seen and it is a one year only part for the Bus...very rare.
The shifter extension is also a desirable accessory.
Dash features the correct rubber 67 only knobs as well.

This rare badge is an original and is from Holland in celebration of the first "freeway" there.
This Bus was one of the first vehicles to drive on that road and got the badge as a souvenier.
The story of the Bus is a pretty neat one. It was bought new here in the US, but the owner was
a traveller. On three seperate occasions he shipped the Bus to Europe to travel in. Most of the time was spent in Holland
where he met his wife. It was kept in the family up until 17 years ago, when the current owner bought it.

It has a great look to the exterior, with the accessories such as the fender skirts, roof rack, side step , fog lights and front mounted spare
it really had a deluxe feel to it.

Now the interior in the back is all bare and is ready for your touch. The floors are solid.
It will need seats and panels and a headliner as well. The original style panels and seat upholstery are readily available
these days fortunately. The seats are out there in the used market.
Do the interior in this Bus and the value will increase dramatically!

The wood signs are fun, and they can be removed without issue, but having them here does bring up many possibilities for advertising!

Here is a couple photos of the Bus prior to the restoration.
It was originally blue in color and was repainted white at one time.
The fender wells in back were cut out for larger tires and the divider wall behind the front seats
was cut out to make it a "walk through".
These changes were properly corrected with the correct sheet metal welded in place and finished.
One of the big benefits of the starting point was that it was overall very straight and very solid.

Today it is prettier than it probably ever was!!
While the Velvet Green paint color is not original to "this" Bus, it is a correct color for the year.

The foglights are genuine VW units by the way which are very rare and sought after.

The fender skirts are a mystery to me.
The owner tells me they came with the Bus when he bought it and that they are original steel units
that the original owner bought in Europe. I must admit that I have never seen such an accessory before
but if this is legitimate they are seriously as rare as can be.

The steering wheel is unrestored and shows some wear.

Love those fog lights!

The Bus is always garaged and well cared for.

A nice pinstripe just under the belt line give it just a little more "flash"

The whitewall tires are pretty much brand new.

Clean Bus.

I like this Bus, I like the history behind it, and it sure looks to be very sweet cosmetically.
Mechanically it sounds like it is a turn-key ready to go vehicle and the only missing part of the puzzle is having a proper interior done.
And that is simple stuff these days.  Great Bus, Great Price...go for it!!
