1952 VW Beetle Sunroof Sedan For Sale

Perhaps one of the most highly desired Beetle models, a split window with the three fold sunroof,
this Toronto based 52 is a dream machine for certain.

Built in November of 1952 it represents one of the final variations of the splits being
from the short interim production era before the Oval window came out in March of 53.

This mid production cars are affectionately referred to as "Zwitters"
Loosely translated from German this means hybrid ... or a blend of two types.
There are many split window era bits and many oval window era bits and together they make
one of VW's most interesting Beetle models of all time.

In February of this year, this car was chosen to be a part of the Icons display at the Cobble Beach Concours d'Elegance
This impressive display of Art and the Automobile had some of the finest influential cars of times past
and the Beetle was celebrated for its affect on the world of cars.

The sign board from the event tells the story, and a wonderful feather in the cap for the car and its owner to be
chosen as a part of this very special display.

The car has been fully documented with its "Birth Certificate" from Volkswagen in Germany.
It is a genuine "11 G" factory fitted sunroof car that was built on November 7th 1952
and was delivered new to Havemann, Lueneburg Germany.
One note on the birth certificate, it does show the car being painted originally in Chestnut brown
but during the restoration the car was stripped down to bare metal and there was no evidence of this color
anywhere, even in the deepest corners. While the certificate states brown, the car was black as it is today.

Original tags and stampings are all intact.
Chassis number matches the data plate so it is the original chassis to the body.
