1966 VW Single Cab Transporter For Sale

SOLD!!

Like your favorite pair of old blue jeans, this little work horse has a great look.
Mechanically its all fresh, lots of new stuff all over, but with a great worn patina.

Its a 66 model located in Southern California.
Its an excellent runner and driver with a pro built mild performance engine
new wheels and tires, a mellow lowering job, new body seals and fresh upholstery.

Its a pretty solid old truck, no major body issues or big damage.
Dings and scratches?...it has those...yes!

Behind the back seat is clean

Seat belt mounts are solid.
New belts too.

Some surface rust in the corners.

Original glass!

Banjo steering wheel is super cool!

Odometer reads 43k miles...actual miles unknown.

I love the look of it.
When shooting the photos I was dreaming of putting some faded logos on the doors and using it as a shop truck..
but then I snapped back into reality...I dont need it...my job is to sell it...not buy it!

I love these Single Cabs. With the fold down sides and that hige bed you can really
haul a lot of stuff. Plus the whole design of it is just fun.
It gets a ton of looks out on the road and they are pretty fun to drive too.

The gates and bed on these trucks are commonly beat up like crazy, but on this truck the gates and the bed floor look pretty darn straight.
Not perfect, but nobody has been hauling bolders in this one!

Underneath you can see that the mechanical parts have all been dealt with and are very fresh.
The gear reduction boxes are long gone and a straight axle trans is now in place so you can
actually keep up with freeway traffic.

Underside has some surface rust but no noteable rot anywhere.

This area has never been fiddled with...just original.

The suspension stance is great...it is low, but not "slammed" and that makes it a very good driver.
It handles nice with the slight drop and nice rubber and you arent bashing the steering box at every driveway.

The cab roof is original paint it appears, as is the interior and bed, etc.
I believe the blue was painted and aged at one point but the whole truck has a consistant appearance.

Original windshield rubbers are still in place...a little dry but new ones are included.
Best of all it looks solid under the window which is a common spot for them to get crusty.

Drivers side too...looks good.

This truck has the optional "dual treasure chest doors" which allows for access
to the under bed storrage from both sides of the truck.
Most of these seemed to have it only on the passenger side, so this is a great attribute.

The VW emblem has been painted and looks nice.

The original paint window frames have been fitted with new rubbers and felts so the windows arent rattly.

Being a 66 model it has the wide back window which allows much better visibility than the earlier models.

The gates look pretty good.
The drivers side has a very slight bow to it but I think that this could be
handled pretty easy if it bothered you.
Another interesting detail on these "late" split screen trucks is the air vents above the rear wheel
rather than in the corner like on the earlier models.

The back of the truck is nice and straight.
The bumpers front and back have been painted and are clean.
They are earlier model bumpers by the way and the Euro style without the guards and overriders.

The title is clean and the registration is current.

The bed looks pretty good for being all original.

Gates are pretty solid...not perfect but miles better than most I see.

New door panels and kick panels inside.

Body tag

Fresh air box.

Nice clean un-cut dash with a couple nice accessories.

Behind the wheel...looks pretty good.

Under the front floors...there is a little weakness.

Top side the proper replacement panels are loosly slipped in place.
Leave it and run it as it is or cut out the rust and weld these in.
Rust wise this is really the worst of it...which in the world of these old transporters is pretty minimal.

Frame and controls and all are solid...just the layer of surface rust.

Rocker panels look great, I dont think they have been welded.

Brand new tires on new BRM wheels.

Engine is clean and dry underneath.

The engine is a 1776cc unit built by Steve Timms, one of the premier engine builders in So Cal.
It is a very properly done and well tuned engine with less than 1000 miles on it since completion.

Nice weber carbs, pretty clean original paint engine room.

Battery area has some rust and similar to the front floor a replacement panel is included.

Very tidy in here.
This all has just a couple hundred miles on it since installation!

The under bed cargo area has some surface rust but no major damage.

Wheels are tires are all new as well with just a couple hundred miles.

Drivers side front floor has a little bit of rust as well, but minimal.

Again the rocker panels look nice and solid.

The surface rust is pretty heavy in spots...the metal is certainly pitted, but not  requiring panel replacement in my opinion.

As the hand model suggests...you can put stuff in here.

Headliner panels are in place in the front, but not the large back panel.

Seat upholstery is new and in very nice salt and pepper vinyl.

Again on the drivers side the replacement sheet metal for the floor is included.

The Flat 4 banjo wheel with Golden Lady horn button is really pretty.

Door panels are nice and new.

Here in this shot you can see the slight bow in the drivers side gate...not bad, I think if you took it off and stood on it it would go back straight.
The bed floor looks great though...just wear and tear.

Gates are good...that is one of the hardest things to find on these trucks.

Nose looks straight and solid.

New mirrors.

In closing this is a neat old truck.
Nice attitude to it, fresh mechanicals make it a delightful driver.
Its pretty straight and pretty solid and can be left as is and enjoyed or do the body and paint and have a show truck.
For me...I would leave it alone and use the heck out of it.
