1971 Hardtop Westfalia Camper For Sale
This Southern California based 71 Westy Camper is much more than it
appears at first glance.
Firstly it is an extremely solid example and secodly it has been fully
gone through by a top shop
in the area and it is the style of vehicle you can fly in and take on a
big adventure straight away.
This one is fully sorted...not cobbled together like so many we see
these days.
This is a very good Bus that was made great by skilled hands and an
owner that
was willing to pay what it takes to get a Bus right.
Blue California plates...it has been a California bus its whole life
and it shows.
Nice body and paint, clean interior with all the camper trimmings,
Recently rebuilt engine , brakes, tires. and a whole lot more.
1971 is well known as being one of the best years of the Bay Window
Busses.
They retain the clean simple look of the early models as well as the
releable and
cheap to maintain upright engine used in millions of VWs and it is the
first year
for the disc brakes and other saftey details.
The hardtop Westy is also a very desireable model as it has all the
cool Westfalia
interior and details and it will fit in the family garage with ease...
it seems that many garage doors are too low to allow
a pop top Westy to drive on in.
Paint and body look fantastic on this Bus...very smooth and glossy.
The engine is a fresh rebuild and performance has been upgraded with
dual carbs,
exhaust header, deep oil sump, 12volt alternator with dual
battery system.
The exhaust is ceramic coated, front end features dropped spindles and
a premium modern disc brake system.
New brake master cylinder, new heavy duty tires on all four corners and
more.
The interior is full Westfalia!
Truly the best of the period campers.
Front area is super clean with excellent upholstery, a clean dash and
some nice upgrades and accessories.
New door panels look great
The Bus is SOLID!
Check out that amazing floor.
Nice rubber mats, cool wicker parcel tray.
Dash is super clean, glass and rubber is excellent.
Kenwood CD player in the dash has a port to plug in your ipod or phone.
Cup holder with phone pouch slips into the stock ashtray location.
Steering wheel looks gorgeous...dash pad and gauges are super clean.
The camper bits are all clean and attractive and fully functional out
back.
Small table to the right of the sink flips over on top of the sink for
storage and easy access.
Spice rack on the side of the ice box with folding table attached.
Nice checkered floors.
Rear seat flips out into a cozy bed with storage below.
Storage abover as well
Very well thought out and designed...these Westy campers make fantastic
spots to hang out.
Walk through front seats for easy access front to back.
Front end is lowered slightly but the rest of the Bus remains very
stock in appearance.
I love how smooth and straight it is.
Nice Bus!
These photos really do not do this Bus justice.
The original mosquito net for the rear hatch is included as is the
original childs cot for over the front seats.
Shoulder belts up front.
Excellent tires on clean wheels
These are the heavy duty truck rated tires as well which are far safer
and stronger for a camper like this.
Its a fair bit of weight when you have all your travel gear packed up
for an adventure.
Putting all that on top of a cheap passenger car tire is not
smart...these guys however are totally up for it.
Rocker panels are super clean and solid
Whole underside of the Bus looks amazingly sound and solid.
The dry California climate has served this Bus well.
Its very tidy as you walk around it.
Things likethis mirror and the trim around the windows. etc...it all
looks "nice".
Sweet
Window cranks have been swapped for nice strong billet aluminum ones.
The originals...especially modern reproductions of them are
nototriously weak.
In closing this is really a nice Bus.
As I mentioned before, the photos do not do it justice...it is really a
quality ride.
Fly in and start a grand adventure across the US...you only live
once...go for it!!
