This beautiful VW Thing is located in the state of Maryland.
It was purchased off our website in 2009 and remains as pretty now as
it was then...very well kept!
The car came out of California when we first sold it and it has been
freshly restored by a well known
restorer in the So Cal area for a prominant businessman in Orange
County.
Its a very nice restoration, but not flawless.
It is however, as you will see, a very clean and well kept car.
The 1600cc dual port engine runs excellent, it is a delightful driver.
The top is in excellent shape and the frame was cleanly restored and
painted at the time of the restoration.
The Thing is a very fun and versitile machine...pull off the top and
doors,
Fold down the windshield and you are ready for a safari (or at least a
nice sun tan!)
The ultimate personalized plate is on the car.
Body is very clean and straight.
Clean under the hood as well.
So much fun!
Chrome and rubber are all in nice shape.
Engine and chassis are very clean and dry underneath.
Nice
Very clean in all the corners...truly kept as nice as any Thing I have
seen.
Obviously a vehicle the owner has a lot of pride in.
The floors have been coated with a Rhino Liner type coating that is
very durable.
The factory perforated rubber mats lay over that.
The inside corners of the nose are not flawless, finish wise, but very
solid.
Original jack is in place.
1974 was the first year for the air boxes.
Seats are excellent
Very nice shape.
The car is always garaged and kept out of any bad weather.
It has been driven sparingly but is always kept in excellent operating
condition.
Pockets for the side curtains...edge guards for the top frame
Side curtains are included
(Plastic is a bit yellowed)
Original owners manual
Full service manual
Some spare parts
Very clean
There are a couple of small flaws here and there...it is not "perfect"
Little scratch on the bumper
Wiper motor detail...so nice!
A paint run on the front quarter panel under the fuel filler.
The chassis is very clean
Solid
The battery section has been replaced at some point. It is in there
solidly, but I would like to see a sealed seam along the edge.
It is a very nice THING!
