1973 Karmann Ghia Coupe For Sale

Here is a nice clean little Ghia Coupe, ready for some driving fun.
Owned by an older couple in the San Diego area, the car was the project of the husband who recently
became to ill to work on it. The car was then sent to a couple of different shops in the San Diego area
for completion and it has been driven sparingly since. It is a turn key, ready to drive car and it appears to be a nice
solid honest example and obviously it is a looker. The owners have invested over $15,000 in the car
and they have the receipts to go with it. Since the husband is no longer driving, it is best that
it finds a new home where someone can love and enjoy it.

Overall the car looks very nice and fresh.
New paint, new wheels and tires, new rubber and trim, basically everything is done and looking good.

1973 was close to the end of Ghia production with the last models being sold in 1974.
The larger taillights are probably the most noteable of the body changes to the last of the Ghias.

Chrome is clean and bright, body is quite straight and nice quality paintwork.

Good looker dont you think?

The happy Ghia face is calling to you..."take me home!"

Under the front hood is pretty basic and untouched. Fittment of a trunk liner or carpet would dress it up nicely.

The jack is still there, good spare as well.

Looks like some minimal bodywork has been done to the nose as visable from the inside.
Nothing nasty though...just a very minor tap that was well repared.

Underside of the hood was painted as well.

Nose emblem.

New wheels and tires all the way around.

Nice and smooth down the sides. Not flawless perhaps but very presentable and clean.

Stock 1600cc engine runs well.
The car has been recently serviced and is ready to go.
Unknown mileage on the engine but it runs fine and the car drives nicely according to the owner.

Battery area.

Stock air cleaner.

Underside of engine lid.

Under the engine shows a little road grime but it is pretty dry, not a leaker.
Gazing up at the push rod tubes it looks like they still have some shine to them...possibly
replaced recently? (just a guess)

Chassis is very solid with no noteable rust issues visable.

Rockers look prety solid.

A good solid example indeed.

Another rocker shot...

The body badge!
New side chrome too.

Nice.

Interior has all be done as well, very clean dash.

Steering wheel has a couple cracks in it, but is original.

Instrumentation is clean. (clock not working Im guessing... "high noon")

The Karmann Ghia script emblem on the dash.

Sony CD stereo.

Dash pad is nice and new and crack-free.

New carpets too.

4 speed manual trans...nice wood shift knob.

Seats have been nicely re-upholstered.

Back seat as well.

Headliner also clean and new.

Visors are clean, day/night rear view mirror.

Door panels are clean and new as well.

Paint code sticker in the door jam in case you ever need to have it matched.

There is that happy face again...

So, in closing this is a delightful little car from an equally delightful couple that truly want to see it go to a new loving home.
Its a nice car that really needs nothing but a new home.
I was unable to test drive the car during inspection, but everything appears to be in order and it is mechanically sound.
And a very good deal at the asking price.
