1957 VW Beetle Cabriolet For Sale

This Illinois based 1957 Beetle Convertible is a stellar "survivor" car with
a fantastic history and an amazing aire of originality.

The car is all original save for an exterior respray back in the 1980s.
It is incredibly solid and well preserved.

The car has a documented 51,000 original miles since new.
There is a fat file of original paperwork and history on the car that comes with it.

Early Convertible Beetles are on a steep rise in collector's eyes these days
and finding a truly solid original example like this is extremely rare.
This is the best one I have seen yet...truly stellar.

Lovely condition from all angles, this is a showroom worthy car if ever there was one.

The color is called Inca Red, and it is the correct original color for the car.
The interior and under hood areas are all original paint.
The exterior was redone once years ago and was done quite well.
The overall look is very cohesive with an ever so slight patina to it.
It is dreamy in person.

The canvas top is in excellent condition, all parts of the body are original, there are no replacement fenders
or bumpers or anything like that...it is as "pure" as they come.

The body has a couple of chips and dings, it is not perfect
but it shows beautifully and there is nothing that couldnt be touched up and fixed if you wanted to give it the effort.

The top has all the correct trim and seals in place.

The outer material of the top was replaced at one point with a German material used on Mercedes.

The color of the top is a dark grey which works well with the color of the car and I think was a wise choice over a solid black

The interior of the car is all original and in very impressive shape

Headliner is the original material with just a bit of age to it.

A few water stains towards the front, but in amazing shape for the age.

Top frame and latches and all hardware are untouched originals.

Wow!

Top folds down easily and the top frame and seals all look to be very well preserved.

Under the front hood is all original and untouched.
Some expected wear to the paint from the brake fluid reservoir from over the years.

All original and untouched, never hit, never messed with.

Wow

Original 4 tab hood
There has been a minor repair done on the drivers side inner edge of the hood
for one of the classic "hood kink" spots (extremely common with these early cars)

Wiring cover and trunk liner are all original.
It is interesting that on the convertibles, all of this inside under the hood was color matched.

Oh...the original top boot is here too

Amazing shape...this was obviously not used much!

The support rails and floor pans are very solid and original on the car.
It is quite dry under here...I love it!
From what I have been told, the very back corners of the support rails have had some minor repair.
That seems to be the extent of any rust in the car.

Tires are excellent

Lights and lenses are all the original Hella German parts.

Hood crest

Passenger side horn grille has the correct block off plate behind it.

Original mirror

All the handles and details are original.
A very slight bit of age as expected. It all fits in so well with the car and helps establish the originality of the car.
When you see something that is "too nice" you become suspect...but when it is all the real stuff...it is magic.

Original seat and panel material in this pattern is not being reproduced to the best of my knowledge.
And this is SO nice!

The only addition to the interior that is not "original" are seat belts for safety.

51,000 original miles!

Very are VDO tachometer and a very nice flower vase.

No radio in the car and no antenna either...
Carpet is original, the "cruiser pedal" accessory is period and super cool.
Steering wheel in amazing shape with just a hint of wear

All original an untouched in here!

The seats are the best that I have seen in an Oval era cabrio!

Cleanliness of the seat frames is drool worthy...this car has always been very well kept.

Even the door pocket remains nice and tight.

Grab andle and locking glove box door

Details like this just set my mind spinning...still in such incredible shape and untouched since it rolled off the assembly line.

Wow!

Time warp!

Very light crack at the hub

Out back the originality and cleanliness continues/

Original numbers matching engine in the car.

Runs and drives excellent and totally stock.

Karmann body badge in place

Original trim rings and gravel guards

Bumpers are original German ones and are untouched with only the slightest bit of age wear.

In closing this is a truly fantastic find.
If you dream of an Oval Convertible I dont think you could have a better vision in your mind than this car.
A very rare opportunity to acquire one that is this well preserved.
