1970 Meyers Manx SR (Sports Roadster)

This is a very special car indeed and Im pretty excited to have it here on the website.
It is a 1970 Meyers Manx SR.
Not only is it cute and cool, it is also a very special example of this rare and desireable Meyers creation.

Here's a photo of it as it was first found by an Arizona collector and Manx historian.
The original silver Gel Coat was yellowed and aged and the car needed restoration.
He dicided to do a little research on the car and discovered some interesting history.
The body number, SR83HO meant that it was the 83rd body produced.
Research through the manufacturer showed that it was one of only 10 cars
built as turn key complete vehicles at the factory. Its original owner turned out to be
none other than Malcolm Bricklin of Bricklin Car fame.

The Bricklin SV1 was Malcolm Bricklin's own
sports car creation that was produced in the mid 70's
Was the Manx SR an inspiration in the Bricklin's construction?

The car was resprayed in Porsche Guards Red to match the original show car that was seen
in all the magazines back in the 70's.
This photo shows the car in Arizona shortly after it's restoration in 2000

...

Here are some of the magazine covers showing the original show car.

The restoration came out beautifully and the car was shown all over the West Coast of the US
and became the poster child for the Manx SR.
Here is a list of the awards and magazine features.

VW Classic 2000, Irvine Ca. (with Manx Club)

The car now is in the hands of a private collection in New York.
We are helping with the liquidation of a few specific vehicles in this collection.
The car is still in fantastic condition inside and out.
It has been stored indoors and has been treated lovingly.
This is perhaps the nicest Manx SR in existance today.

The design is awesome. Really ahead of it's time.
The car looks modern even today over 35 years later.

The best part about the design is just how attractive it is to a wide variety of people.
Guys love it because it's sporty and cool.
Ladies think it's cute.
And children think it's like a gown up Hot Wheels car.

I personally always thought that the Hot Wheels car called the "Jack Rabbit Special"
that I had back when I was a kid looks a lot like the Manx SR

What do you think?

The gullwing doors of course are the coolest thing...talk about an eye catcher when you pull up and get out!

The full instrumentation is great.
Interior is immaculate.

Just plain gorgeous eh?

Wow it's clean in here.
Check out the 8 track tape player and of course the "Little Tree"
(every car has one you know...)

Awesome shape.

Here's a fun shot with the owner's Herbie Beetle in the backround.

The rear window.
Note the snap on Targa type top.

The rear engine lid lifts off to reveal the engine.
Excellent access to everything for service.

Very very clean and tidy engine compartment.
Engine is hooked up to a complete heater system so no more cold nights.
(those New Yorkers sure know how to do this right)
Engine runs excellent, transmission and brakes are also top notch.
Turn key and ready to enjoy.

Super clean and solid underneath.

The front end tips open to reveal the fule tank and a small luggage area
(room for a duffle bag)

Access to the wiring, wiper motor and brake fluid resevoir is in here too.
All clean and well done.

I love the face of these cars...who can resist that little red frog face?

The backside is pretty attractive too.
Love the personalized plate.

Detail of the taillight, rear emblem and bumperettes.

The SR emblem on the side of the top.

Very interesting vehicle in profile.
Note the very clean original Ansen wheels with
excellent BF Goodrich T/A radials all the way around.

So there you have it.
A very very clean example of a genuine factory built Meyers Manx SR
with a very colorful history and a top quality restoration.
Ask around in the world of Meyers Manx collectors about this car
they will agree with my assessment...it is one of the very best of the breed available today.
