2003 VW "Ultima Edition" Beetle For Sale

In 2003, Volkswagen of Mexico ended production of the air cooled Beetle.
In celebration of this, the final cars built were done as a tribute to the Beetles of the past.
The "Ultima Edition" was the name and they were available in two colors...blue as you see here or beige.
The wide whitewall tires, some special badging and a limited production
makes this a very special model indeed.

For those not "in the scene" here in the US, it may come as a shock that VW built these cars all the way up until 2003.
The reason we dont see them here is that the US would not allow them to be imported past 1980.
So there are very few in the states for that reason.

This car is located in Los Angeles California in the hands of it's original owner who went to Mexico to buy it himself.
While it is on US soil, the title a registration remain Mexican.
There are ways to register them here in the US, but it is a bit of a mystery as to how.
The majority I have seen are registered as an earlier year and are based on an earlier chassis.

This car was bought as an investment and has spent it's life well kept and pampered indoors.
It has just under 6000 kilometers on it (about 3,100 miles)...so it is truly in showroom, mint condition.

I must admit that in 2003 I was very very tempted to go get one of these for my collection, but I held back.
As time moves forward I am pretty sure this is something that I will wish I had done.
Whenever I see one of these Ultima's, I pause and wish it was mine.
The very last production of one of the most amazing cars in history.
70 years of production...70!!! Simply amazing.

Only 3000 of the Ultima editions were built, split up betweeen the two colors that is roughly 1500 each.
The very final one off the line on July 30th 2003 was a blue one just like this.

Original owners manual and sales brochure is included.

Great car these Beetles are, and the Mexican models like this are so quiet and smooth...I have had the opportunity to drive
a couple and it is a completely "new car" feeling in a familiar  old surrounding...it is a trip!

Here is the original sales invoice, and the keys along with the special key fob that came with it.
As mentioned before, the car retains a Mexican title.
Shipping outside of the US is not a problem with this paperwork.
For US based buyers, if your plan is to stash it in your collection or display it in your museum...
I would keep the Mexican title and buy it as a collectible.
If you truly do wish to put it into use, the seller states that he can get it US titled, but at an additional cost
and it will not be 100% original as it is right now.

The Ultima Edicion badge is on the glove box door.

The car truly is in mint condition.

Mexico plates.

Interior is superb (as you would expect)

What a great photo!

Factory CD player radio.

Odometer reads 5963 kilometers...the actual mileage since it rolled off the assembly line.

So here it is...a rare chance to aquire one of the very last Beetles built.
It is in superb condition with very minimal mileage and it remains 100% stock and unmodified and suitable
for display in any show or museum around the world.
These are highly prized now...and just wait and see what happens as time passes...it will always be a good investment!
