This faded Ruby Red 66 Sedan comes to us from Iowa.
It is a very solid and original car inside and out that has had an engine rebuild
just 4000 miles ago, rebuilt brakes, new wheels and tires
and it is a great runner and driver just as it is...and it has a great character to it.

The car was sold new in New Jersey and remained there at least until 1977, but now it is in Iowa.
When you hear the East Coast history you would expect quite the rust bucket, but due to proper care
and no harsh salted road winters, it remains amazingly solid.

Some fun historical paperwork such as the origina title remain.
The car is in the hands of a seasoned VW collector who has put a fair bit of effort into
retaining the originality and history of the car, but making it completely road worthy.

New wheels and tires...looks solid in the fender wells.

The original dealer badge and faded paint...original New Jersey plates are still with the car.
The car has fun Pizza delivery logos on the doors and the "Pizzawagen" script on the back.

There are some surface rust spots here and there but these areas appear quite solid.

The dash is all original and uncut.

Window rubber is weathered but the windows do not seem to leak.

Original glass.

Super straight car...never hit front or back.

Trunk liner and wiring cover are originals and holding up surprisingly well.

Here in the front fender well is a small area where rust has gotten it's way...this is a small area that
could quite simply be cleaned and treated and patched...it would not require any wild work to correct.

The heater channels and the floor pans are very solid on this car!

The interior is all original in the car, and that is pretty cool.
Original carpets and mats...

Seats are the original ones as well and are surprisingly intact.

The original upholstery has discolored some with age but is very intact!

Look how nice that original headliner is under the window.
You dont see that on West Coast cars...the sun burns that up quick!
The original carpet in the back here looks nice too!

The original F case 1300cc engine was rebuilt about 4000 miles ago and it runs excellent.

Original bumpers have some chrome deterioration.

That rear apron under the lid sure is shiny!
I love that Ruby Red color...one of my favorites!

Still 6 volt electrics and everything totally stock in here...all the right tins and hoses in place!

Original door panels look quite nice!

I like the parcel tray and the VW service sticker in the door jam...this car has survived the test of time pretty darn well.

Its a cool car just as it is, or would be a fantastic base car for a restoration.
Whatever your idea...it is always so nice to start with a nice "virgin" original car like this.

The roof rack is an original as well.

The 5 spoke wheels are nice and sporty and in like new condition, as are the tires.

You could probably buff up this paint a little if you wanted, but there is something very
attractive about it just as it is with the fade and everything...like a well worn pair of favorite jeans.

Jenewein VW in Linden NJ

Underside of the engine looks reasonably clean.

The fender beading has been replaced on the passenger side front...the rest looks original.

A small spot of rust right at the corner of the rear quarter...quite small.

Nicks Pizza!
Love it!
Curiosity got the better of me...so I looked it up.
Nicks Pizza is no longer around, but there is a Tony's Pizza in Cranford New Jersey with the same phone number!
http://tonyspizzacafe.com/
So maybe Tony bought out Nick?

The VWoA steel roof rack is great...you can pile a lot of stuff on these!

The headliner is holding up pretty well...no big rips or damage...a small hole visible here in this shot.

I always look at original seats like this and think that with a properly done vinyl spray they could look like new again!

Front seats even look nice!

OK...noticed something here...the passenger side front fender has been changed... this explains the fender beading being swapped
and it also explains  why the turn signals are in different places...must be an earlier fender!

Now the eye is drawn to that isnt it?...OK...not a big deal...focus on the rest of the car!

Shabby Chic!

73,818 miles at the time of these photos.

Nice solid chassis!

New Jersey inspection sticker from 1977!

In closing this is a neat old car.
It is a good runner and fun play toy as it is, or dive on in and restore it back to its former glory.
Either way it seems a decent car for a very decent price!
