1960 Volkswagen Beetle Sedan For Sale

Seriously folks...this one is like that...this amazing 1960 Beetle has just 7,500 original miles since new
and is simply in mind blowing original condition, I can not imagine ever finding a nicer example than this!!
The car was first sold by Fikes Volkswagen near Monterey California in September 1960.
It was serviced by Wester Motors in Monterey in 1961 with just 300 miles on it
and then the next service stamp shows it at just over 5000 miles in 1997 by the same dealer.
The story goes that is was driven very minimally by the first owner for a few years and then put into storage.
When the original owner passed on in the 80's , the car changed hands and ended up on the showroom floor
at Wester Motors as a display item until around 1997.
It was then sold to a couple in Washington ...then to its current owner in Iowa in 2008.
All told, the car has just 7,521 miles since new and remains in stunning original condition.
The paint has a perfect patina to it...it is not flawless, but is impressive just the same.
The chrome is bright and clean and the rubber is impressively nice.
There is a spot on the drivers front fender where there is a blended paint repair done back in the dealership days
under close inspection you can see it, hard to capture with the camera.
There is a similar blend on the rear at the top of the decklid.
Apparantly one rear fender was also retouched...but the rest of the exterior finish is as applied at the factory.
A small chip here or there but the condition is amazing just the same.
A couple little flaws next to the window scraper trim...just small things like this that give it the expected patina a car painted
50+ years ago would have, even with the most perfect care.
The fit and finish is impressive...VW built quality back then and it sure shows now.
Judging by the reflection the car is in very good, very knowledgeble hands...the owner knows his VWs!
The stuff the really shows the condition and the lack of use are inside .
The spotlessly clean latches, the all original interior...

Under the front hood is superbly clean and untouched.
Back of the dash is stunningly clean
Speedo cable still has the seal intact...the metal on the back of the speedo and other related areas are still bright and shiny.
The door jams and dash are superb.
The paint on the centers of the wheels is original however the outer ring appears to have been resprayed.
The proper era original Continental tires are impressive.
The car is wonderfully clean an well detailed...this is showroom ready just as it sits.
Superb down the sides.
The fender wells are just insane...so clean and the hardware still bright...wow!
This is original folks...not restored!!
Floorpan is totally solid and clean beyond belief.
Amazing!
The interior is all original and untouched and it has that perfect smell to it.
Rare accessory passenger visor with mirror.
The mileage is correct!!
7,521 miles at the time of these photos.
Take a look how clean and clear the speedo needle is.
Glove box is super clean and still retains its fuzz.
Impressive original carpets and mats.

Under the seat is properly clean and solid as well.
Door panels are fantastic.
Rear luggage carpet is like new as is the original headliner
which has aged better than any I have seen before.

The original headliner is in amazing shape.
This material is not known for aging this well...most often it gets dark
and starts to fall apart...this car has not been outside in the elements much and the condition proves this without a doubt.
Even the door pocket is tight and proper...and the door jams are so clean.
The carpet and mats and such show wear that is consistant with the low mileage.
Cant get much nicer than this!

No build up of grease on the beam or anything like that.
Windshield has the proper Sigla logo
Running boards are the originals with the rubber that has the smooth end rather than the ribs that go all the way to the end.

Of course it is the numbers matching original engine.
Now it must be noted that the engine tins have been repainted.
Done very nicely by the way...but not original finish on the tins.
The firewall material is superb...the paint on the engine lid and apron is wonderfully clean.
Very cleanly detailed.
California black plates will come with the car.
Car is currently located in Iowa and is titled there.
This really is an amazing find.
With just 7,500 original miles and obviously well stored and kept
this is something that will be a major crowd draw at the VW events and
a fantastic addition to any collection of any stature.
Is this the nicest unrestored 60 Beetle in the world?
If it's not...it is certainly a close runner up.
This is a VW nut's dream machine.
If it were mine I would lock myself in the garage with it for at least a week
just to touch it and smell it and fondle its knobs.... uhhh...sorry...did I go too far there?
Amazing car...simply amazing and at a great price!
Certainly cheaper than a time machine...which is the only way you could
find another one this clean!
