1962 VW 23 Window Deluxe Microbus For Sale

These top of the line VW Bus models have been leading the pack when it comes to VW collectibles for
quite some time. Its what I like to call an "Icon Car". It is a vehicle that is globally recognizeable,
invokes an era in our history, and always brings a smile to your face. Of course my view of VW's may be a bit biased
but I dont think Im dreaming when I compare a Bus like this to a 57 Chevy, a 32 Ford or a 65 Mustang.
These are cars that in current day are still being used in advertising and popular culture decades after their "birth".
And it's this sort of icon status that makes a Microbus like this so desireable.
There are more people out there that want one, than there are Busses for sale...
and nice ones like this get gobbled up quickly.

This Bus has just emerged from a three year long restoration process at the hands of a few local
VW restoration sources. Its a restoration that I personally kept tabs on for the owner and the end result is
very agreeable. I wont be cocky and claim it's the best one that there has ever been, because it is not
but it is certainly not a "quickie" job by an amateur as many Busses these days seem to be.

The Bus has come a very long way since I first layed eyes on it...

In fact...here is a "before" shot for you. Pretty straight and complete, but painted with a brush
and neglected for many many years. It doesnt look too bad in this photo actually...but it needed a LOT of love.

Now today the transformation is complete and it has been returned to it's former glory.
The body was stripped to bare metal by hand and the needed metal repair done.
Countless hours spent getting the body smooth again and the finish paintwork is very nice indeed.
It was one of those projects that seemed to take forever but when it came out of the bodyshop it was
a true night and day difference...well worth the wait.

Once it emerged from the bodyshop (West Coast Collision in La Habra CA) it travelled to Kustom 1 Upholstery (Orange CA) where Octavio and his
skilled crew attacked the interior of the Bus, and then to BFY Obsolete (Orange CA) for assembly, wiring and mechanicals
and Bob Lacoste in the back room there did a fabulous job getting it all together.

All new everything when it comes to the window seals and trimming and such.

The correct early 15" Bus wheels were restored and fitted with new hubcaps with hand painted centers.
The tires are modern radials with excellent tread and understated black sidewalls.
(Wide whitewalls can be added if that's what you dream of...Ive got a good source for them)

The rocker panels are sraight and solid and the correct deluxe aluminum trim is extremely clean.

Original belly pans underneath. Minor repairs were done to them rather than replacing them with aftermarket metal.

New stainless steel spears on the engine vents.

Correct aluminum trims on the bumpers as well.
