1966 VW Bus For Sale

This is one sweet ride!
1966 Deluxe Microbus (a 13 window for those that count)
It is a very clean driver quality restoration with a lot of upgrades
and fresh work done to it. It is something you can hop right in and enjoy as it is.
It is not an over the top "trailer queen" restoration that you would freak out about if you got a stone chip
but it is still clean enough to be proud of an to get a ton of looks on the road.

I love the stance of the Bus...lowered, but not ridiculously so.
Body looks nice and smooth, the paint colors are great.

The  roof rack, sode step and front and rear Safari windows definitely add some cool factor.
The smooth blade bumpers keep thins from looking too cluttered
and the "Sprint Star" wheels are a classic choice.

Sweet machine indeed!
This Bus is located in Northern California by the way...in the Grass Valley area (give or take)
The owner is a serious VW nut with a lot of experience with these machines.

Nice clean polished body trim and chrome emblem.
The paint and body work is just about two years old and looks great.

The wheels and tires are brand new with less than 100 miles on them.
The engine and suspension are all fresh as well with maybe 1000 miles on them at this point.
This is a 4" narrowed beam with flipped spindles, new shocks, and fresh stock drum brakes.

All the "jailbars" are in place in the back, rubber is all in great shape, glass is all good.

Headliner in nice shape.

Speedometer was rebuilt and restored at the same time as the engine.
At the time of these pics (which are recent) it was just shy of 1000 miles.

Dash clock is in good shape.

Stock radio in the dash and chrome ashtray

Floors look solid but just a little scruffy under the mats.

Really a solid Bus though...this is original metal here and it looks sound.
The underside of the Bus was not restored...it was left original but the owner reports that
it is very solid with no rust issues.

Cargo floor looks very solid under the mats.

Good "dry climate" Bus for sure!

Rear deck under the carpet is as-original.
This all gets covered up when the carpet is in place of course and looks tidy.

The interior is all recent TMI product that looks nice and clean.
Nice to see all the seats in place and the proper bulkhead panel with shelf.

Very nice look to it...I love the grey on grey...clean and simple yet classy.

Plenty of room for family and friends.

Note the additional gaugest added in the parcel tray to the left of the steering wheel.
Nice clean install...no cuts!

Looks good!

Best seat in the house!

Nothing like getting the breeze in your hair on a nice warm day.

As you can see by the magnet on the door...the owner is no stranger to Aircooled VWs...
it is something he is into deeply!

The engine is a 1641cc with dual Kadron carbs that was rebuilt 1000 miles ago and it runs fantastic.
12 volt electrics with alternator. Very strong runner and it is mated up to a Type 1 straight axle trans
that eliminated the stock Bus gear reduction boxes and makes the gearing so much better for use in the modern world
this is a Bus that will keep up with highway traffic just fine!

Clean title and current registration.

The side step by the way is an easy slip-in and out affair.
Its a great accessory but you need to watch the curbs with it!
Nice to sight down the side here and see good smooth panels and no funky door gaps going on.

Techincally the engine lid is incorrect for 66, it is an earlier style lid that is a much smoother design than the original.
I think it looks nice and keeps in theme with the smooth look of the Bus...but the picky "purists" may take notice of this.

Check out the bumper steps up front too!

In closing this is a nice, solid, honest Bus that has had skilled hands on it.
A lot of recent work and all fresh mechanicals so it has a very long, enjoyable life ahead of it.
With the "big daddy" microbusses going up to the stratosphere price wise these days,  a hardtop Deluxe like this
seems like an incredible bargain. The only thing that differs with this one is the sunroof and skylight windows....
If it had those it would easily be DOUBLE the price, if not more!
