Original Owner 1964 Beetle For Sale

Its not often that one has a chance to buy a vintage vehicle from the actual original owner.
Well this little red San Diego based 64 Sedan has been in the hands of the same lady owner since new
and it has been her pride and joy for the whole time. Now as time marches on she is getting older
and more afraid to drive the car and it has come time for the hard decision to send it to a new loving home.

One recent event really drove it home for her, and that was the car being hit from behind.
It wasnt a hard collision, it just punched in the engine lid, but it was enough to shake her nerves up
and now the car is repaired and ready for action, but she doesnt want to drive it.

The car is in the hands of her mechanic currently, and is stored at his shop in San Diego.
(hence the array of other German machinery in the backround).

Its a very clean and pretty car, extremely solid and a great runner and driver.
It is not a show level car, it has been driven, but it has always been well taken
care of and properly serviced.
It still retains the original black California plates and has a clean clear title.

The car has been repainted in the original Ruby Red color and the quality of the work is pretty nice.
German bumpers on each end, good quality parts used throughout.

Nice tires on the proper two tone painted wheels.
A couple of the hubcaps have a ding or two.

Very straight down the sides.

I spied this one little paint bubble happening just above the trim on the drivers side.

The rear decklid was replaced after the accident.

New taillight lenses.
Some minor pitting on the chrome surrounding them.

Back up light on the bumper.

Bumper stiffener behind the blade.

Now when the car was hit, the damage was to the decklid, but it managed to go far enough that it pushed the fan shroud back
and broke the oil cooler off and cracking the case! What a drag!
But good for the next owner as the engine in the car is a full freshly rebuilt engine with barely a few miles on it.
Converted to 12 volt electrics, Mechanical advance 009 distributor, super clean and she purrs like new...heck she is new!

Obviously very clean and ready for action.

The new decklid was an original German one that was sourced and painted to match.

Underside of the engine is clean and dry.

Chassis of the car is exceptionally solid.

Dreamy eh? Gotta love these dry climate cars!

Obviously not cleaned or detailed under here...just the expected road grime from a pretty untouched one owner car.

Lets look under the front hood...

|
Original trunk liner is still intact.

Cool vintage "Cheese Crispies" tin...

That holds the original tools.

Nice and smooth under the hood.

Clean

Looks like it was tapped in the front at some point in it's life
signs of welding on the bumper bracket mounts.

Same on this side...pretty straight though.

Washer bottle

Spare tire.

Hood closes well and fints nice.

Window rubbers and glass look to be in nice shape.

Some clear coat peel on the roof in the rain gutter.

Smooth body.

The interior is very nice and clean and the paint on the dash appears to be original.

Door panels in nice shape.

Seats have been recently redone.
Drivers side seat was replaced with a highback unit to support the neck of the dear owner
in case she gets bumped in the backside again...the stock lowback seat has been covered
to match and will go with the car.

Nice clean upholstery.

Back seat as well.

Excellent headliner.

Very clean.

The dash is super nice.

Steering wheel in very good condition.

Odometer reads 49500 miles.
Actual mileage on the car is not calculated, but the service records Im sure will show it.

Here's the original window sticker for the car!
This was a late 63 model sold as a 64 (or an early 64 model...however youwant to look at it.)
Always in San Diego area.

Big fat folder of service records...always well maintained and properly serviced.
Original owners manual is included as well.

Here's one of the service record books dating back into the 70's

Original AM/FM radio, nice clean dash, cool original seat belts sticker and nice dash plaques from local race tracks
(curious as to the story there)
Newer model dash knob for the hazard switch...but the switch looks to be original.

Stardust Raceway in Vegas!

The legendary Riverside Raceway too.

Glove box is clean...after seeing the dash plaques I expected some cool leather driving gloves to be in here...
Oh well...

Very nice clean carpets.

Drivers side door panel.

There...I think I covered all the bases here.
Its a very nice car with a fantastic history.
Fresh engine and recently serviced mechanicals so it is ready for many more miles to drive.
Its clean and super solid, the paperwork and documentation is great.
Not a show level car but quite presentable and a car that someone will really love.
Its been a good friend to it's owner since 1964...now it's your turn.
