1961 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale

Here is anothern out of state listing, a very sweet little 1961 Beetle Sedan from Fargo North Dakota.
Its owner has had it for about 6 years and completed the 2 year long restoration about 3 years ago.
He pulled the car completely apart, body off the pan and all and started from the ground up.
He turned out a nice clean machine and with only about 5,000 miles since completion
it is still quite fresh and ready for a new loving home to make way for his next project
a 1938 Ford (to each his own I guess...)

It has a clean mild custom look to it, not dropped down too low, up at a reasonable height
nice fun pale green color, cast center EMPI 5 spoke wheels, and more.

The chromeless "cal look" window rubber and Euro style bumpers give it a simple uncluttered look
while the decklid stand offs hint at the performance drivetrain under the hood.

Tasteful

A good looking car from all angles.

Roof is smooth and straight as is the whole body.
Excellent glass and new rubber all the way around.

Running boards are billet aluminum versions, coated flat black for a stock look.
Nicely fit in the corners.

Detail at the front.
Hinges are nice and clean as well

Turn signals have been shaved for a smooth look...black fender beading sets off the paint color nicely.

Classic "Empi 5's" are a great choice, especially in the raw cast center...very subtle and not too flashy.
Stock drum brakes all the way around (all redne of course).
Excellent tires on all four corners.

Hood gap is a shade wide in this photo...not sure if the hood was closed all the way though.
Everything else seems to be fit and finished well.

I like to see clean paintwork in the deep corners like this...shows that he took the time to do a nice job.

Stainless steel side trim, nice paint finish, good chrome.

Smooth reflections!

Red US spec taillight lenses, dual exhaust.

Engine is a turn-key 2275cc unit from a well known builder.
Dual 44 Weber carbs, 110 cam, lots of chrome.
Engine has about 5000 miles on it since the restoration was complete and it runs like a champ.

12 volt electrics of course and all the bess and whistles...very clean in here.

Detail shot of the Weber carbs and breather set up.
Note the stainless braided fuel lines.

Bugpack dual exhuast is ceramic coated.

Interior too is very clean.

Stock steering wheel and dash.

Small tachometer worked into the speaker grille.
Stock speedometer.

Custom billet aluminum radio block off plate (dash is non-cut by the way)
Also a nifty aluminum trim panel fitted right of the ashtray to block off the factory cigar lighter hole.

Door panels seem a little out of place in color to me, but they are in very clean condition.
(I think I would have gone grey and white...)

Seats are very nice in grey tweed with off white piping.

Back seat done to match...very nice looking.

Headliner is well fitted.

Lap belts up front in grey.

Nicely fit grey carpet with black binding.
(flash makes the color look odd...it's grey)

Turn signals have been worked into the headlights.

All new wiring harness in the nicely detailed trunk.
I like the grey fuel tank with the body color.
The green space saver sppare is kinda fun as well.

Painted well under the hood too.

Detail of the wiring...very clean.

Heater channels look very solid as do the fender wells.

Looks good to me.

Not show detailed under here but you can see that some time was spent to make it nice and solid.

Floor pans are solid as well and look like they have been treated
with Por 15 or something of the like.
Note the rear sway bar...a nice performance item.

Pans are a little lumpy looking on the back edges but the owner says she is solid.
Note the urethane tranny mount visable in this shot.

Transmission was fully rebuilt by Trans-form and has stock gear ratios but has been beefed up a bit
to match up with the performance engine.

Low profile oil sump is nice, everything looks pretty good under here.

Nice and dry, no signs of big leaks or messes.

Auxillary oil filter is a prime addition as well.

Back up on the shiny side and basking in the glow of the North Dakota sunset.

In closing this is a very nice car for the money.
Cleanly done, every stone turned, some nice mild upgrades and a good sense of style.
I like it...and I think you will too. The owner likes it as well, but with the new project under way he needs
the garage space for that old Ford and the sale of this car will help him get that one closer to done.
This car is not one we have had a chance to inspect personally, but based upon the photos it is
pretty obvious that it was no quickie job and that it is a decent car.
If you have the chance to go see it and decide for yourself, the car is available for viewing by appointment only.

Worldwide shipping is available of course.

$10,500 obo
