1962 Volkswagen 1500 Type 3 Notchback  For Sale

Now here's a car that's rarely ever offered for sale,
 a 1962 Volkswagen 1500 Type 3 Notchback sedan.
Yes...1962!

Beautiful L87 Pearl White, (an older high quality respray) this car has many features unique
only to the first 1500 Type 3 Notchback sedans built.
Car is currently located in Belgium.
Shipping to the US is easily arranged and seller will assist with the logistics

This early VW hood badge .

1500 rear badge.

Early two hole rain drain chrome headlight rings.

Early cats ear outside mirror.

What a lovely eyeful each time you get in the car to drive, as this elegant Petri Coach steering wheel greets you.

More early goodness, an early all white gearshift knob.

Marvelous interior, all original German fabric, un-restored.
Speedometer shows 26.500km, the mileage is undocumented...possibly 126,500km?
Current owner is only the fourth owner since new.

Amazing original early German salt & pepper cloth interior.
Condition of the interior does bring to question the mileage...could it really be 26k kilometers?

Excellent dash pad. red needle gauges and a big knob glove box door latch,
The interior is totally un-restored and all original.

The door panels are like new.
Impressive condition.

I just can't believe the condition of these 56 year old seats, wow!

A look from the passenger side, looks like it rolled out of the showroom a few days ago.

There's a nicer look at that wrap around dash and the red needle gauges, seller has a repro tachometer installed
but he also includes the original clock with the car as well.

Fantastic, crack free dashboard, something of a real rarity.
Car still has it's 6 volt heater which works perfect, is very enjoyable and doesn't smell.

I have always loved the push button dash boards, like out of a Sci-Fi movie.

Kamei/Munich gas pedal cover/foot rest.

Early red dot heater knob and the seller also mentions the car has  the original
factory rubber  and German square weave
floor mats front and rear.

Beautiful original factory headliner.

That backseat armrest is amazing.

Underneath the rear seat, solid as the day it was new.

Battery area rust free.

Everything is factory original German down here.

Headliner is excellent and original, even the dome light works.

Owners manual from the original owner from Austria.
(sold by the famous Louise Piech/CEO of Porsche Salzburg/Graz)
Her signature is in the original Austrian logbook.
The car has much of it's original documentation and original keys, etc.

More rare early goodies on this car, like the pointed spear rocker trims.

The luggage compartment is all 100% original.

Original factory jack, gas tank filler tube and notice the flawless sheet metal.

Brake fluid reservoir and perfect metal on that side too.

Perfect nose down below.

Notice the early Mickey Mouse apron.

Original part sticker on rear bumper.

The car is sitting on detailed reproduction Fuchs wheels, the brakes are all new and work perfectly.
It's been lowered one notch up front and can be easily adjusted to normal factory height without an issue.
The seller also has 3 original rims that can go with the car and he may find an extra 2 if the buyer wishes so.
Bolt pattern is wide five and has been unaltered from factory.

Let's look in the motor compartment, the lining is in exceptional condition as new.

Engine hatch is in very good condition, the instructional diagrams are in fine shape, clean and tidy.

The motor which is all numbers matching has had a recent tune up, new plugs, wires, N.O.S.
points and condenser. This is the factory side draft single carb model.
Further detailing in here could improve the look a lot, but it is nice to see all the correct original details in place
such as the plastic dome on the fuel pump.

Rare aftermarket chrome trims on the windshield grill.

Great looking car, so clean and straight.
Later deluxe models had body trim and the chrome trim on the leading edge of the hood,
but the simplicity of the Type 3 in its early form like this is hard to beat.

Accessory trims on the rear air intake grill as well.

Overall a stellar example of one of the earliest of the Type 3.
These care were never imported to the US officially and those that did make it here are most commonly
much later models. Like with other VW models, the earliest examples are the most highly prized.
This one has all the right stuff, the early model signature parts that are made of pure "unobtanium"...its all here.
This is a very rare find.
