1972 Westfalia Camper

There is nothing that screams 1970's louder than the color orange.

What I like best about this one is that it hasnt been fluffed up and polished
like crazy.
It could use a little of that perhaps, but doing that is such a rewarding
experience, Im always
a little bummed out if I miss the chance to do it myself. The detailing
and little stuff makes a huge difference.

Cant get much more original than this.

Lets go in a little closer so I can show you just how amazing this Bus
is in many ways.

First of all...the Bus came from Minnesota which is not known to have solid
cars.
But it must have been kept in a climate controlled garage it's whole like
because this Bus puts many California busses to shame!
Look at that flawless rocker panel...and keep in mind that this is original
paint here!

The bumper has a few scratches and could use a polishing...

Original dealer logo on the hatch.

Here's a small dent on the corner by the taillight lens...thats about it.

Crank out side window are in great shape.

The instructional printing is still visable on the sliding door!

More dreamy solid rockers on the passenger side as well.

Very nice aluminum trim and such...very well preserved.

No signs of rust or any repair on the nose.
Another super slight soft ding under the emblem up front.

Very nice indeed...and imagine how incredible it will be with a pro polishing
and detail!

Original canvas still intact.

Open up nd ready for camping!

Other side of the canvas.

Front compartment...everything original.

Here's what really blew my mind...look at these incredible solid shiny
original paint floors!
Where the heck was this Bus stored all these years...in Minnesota I think
they wipe on the rust
at the dealership as a part of the delivery inspection... just phenomenal!

Drivers side too... this is a seriously rare sight even here in California...there
seems to always be some level of rust going on under the mat.

Dash is super clean and proper.

Odometer reads 3938 miles.
Now the current owner was told that this was original...but I cant imagine
that it is with the few signs of wear
that I see in spots. It's gotta be 103,000 miles...and if it is 103K than
they sure kept fantastic care of it.
There is no documentation, so you will have to decide this for yourself.

Steering wheel in excellent shape.

Dash pad is super clean.

Front mat area is impressively clean.

Original door panels!

Nice eh?

Seats have some discoloration on the material but are certainly original.

Passenger side set has a rip on the top corner.

Original belts.

Production sticker and vin number.

Body tag.

The camping goodies are also very clean indeed.

Nice original upholstery and panelling.
The long wall has some wear to the finish.

Here you can see the wear on the side panel.
Seat cushion looks like it will clean up very well.

Fridge is super clean.
Im curious as tothe condition of the original flooring under the carpet.
I bet it's amazing.

Stainless sink basin

What no beer?... Im outta here....
(easily repairable though... he he he)

Inside the tall closet.

Original instruction sticker is starting to peel.

Storage space.

Very nice headliner panels

Nice shape!

Back area is super clean.

Cabinet looks like new!

Bug screen is rolled up and looks like it was never used.
I didnt disturb the neatly folded material here...is this the front curtain?

Spare tire cover.

Awesome original paint back here.

Lets look under that little lid under the hatch shall we?

Things in the engine compartment look to be as they should be...a good
detailing in here would do wonders.
The engine runs well and the brakes, steering and clutch are as they should
be...transmission too.
It did stall a little at the stop lights so it may be time for a tune,
but it is impressively tight feeling.

Take a little time in here detailing that engine compartment...and it's
show time.

A quick wipe with the polish rag...that orange paint will gleam in here.

Underside of the engine lid.

Underside of the engine has a bit of grime.

Very solid Bus.

Front suspension

Nice tires all the way around.
Wheel rims could use a fresh coat of paint.

So there you have it...
Its a pretty amazing find, super clean machine.
A weekend of polishing and detailing and attending to little stuff like
the wheels and such and this will be a jewel.
Its really hard to find them this clean and this original...this is one
to buy and keep stashed away.
