1962 VW "Double Cab" Transporter
The Bus is very well kept, and it's pampered life has left it as nice as
one could ever hope for.
Excellent fit and finish. "Sierra Court Cottages" graphics
are done in vinyl,
so they can be removed if desired, but do give the truck a little character.
Very very straight body
Good looking vehicle from all angles.
This Bus has done well in the local So Cal show scene as well.
Just gorgeous.
Interior is spotless as well...all stock and proper.
Bench front seat with the proper "hump" in the center of the
back.
Modern seat belts for safety.
Door panels are excellent
very sanitary and simple
Steering wheel is nicely restored.
Odometer reads 74,000 miles and change... actual original mileage is unknown.
Bendix radio
Nice accessory drink holder
Floormat and controls are clean (except for my dusty footprints)
Floors are very solid and clean.
Ambulance fan is a rare and desireable accessory.
Roof panels are clean and well fit.
Very nice
Door jams and hardware are all nice and clean.
This was a quality restoration.
"M" code tag behind the seat, built December 29th 1961, and it
was painted the original Grey color code.
Very nice
Back seat area is also wonderfully clean
Bulkhead is clean and straight.
Panels look great and the latches and hardware are nicely detailed.
Floors in the back are excellent as well.
Rear dome light does not seem to work...not sure what is up with that...but
it is there and looks great.
What a dream machine!
A wonderful example of the most desireable "working class" VW
Busses.
Engine is a rebuilt stock 40 horse that truly runs superb. Still 6 volt
electrics, all totally stock and very clean.
The only diversion from stock specs on the motor is the mechanical advance
distributor
and the coil should be black instead of blue...the rest looks spot-on to
me.
Engine compartment is clean even in the corners.
Battery area looks excellent.
Very good.
Very light layer of road grime underneath, but remember, this is a driver...not
a trailer queen!
That being said, the underide was nicely painted and looks very clean and
is super solid.
Nice under the front as well
Dreamy
Quite clean underneath
Smooth bodywork
Nicely detailed stock 15" Bus wheels and excellent tires on all four
corners.
Mudflaps too are a nice touch.
Antenna is center mounted which is a little unique.
headlights and lenses are all excellent.
Emblem looks superb
California year of manufacture plates add a great look.
Mirrors are excellent
Graphics are fun, and as mentioned before are easily removeable.
All window rubbers, body seals and felts were replaced and are in excellent
shape.
Back of the cab is perfect.
Third brakelight is a great little accessory...it's not hooked up at the
moment
but I love the look.
Tail gates are in excellent shape...extremely straight, as is the bed.
I here an ever so slight shake of "rust dust" when you flip them
down
and I saw a couple of very small bubbles along the bottom,
But if you know these trucks at all, you know that is the least of your
worries.
Finding side gates as nice as these is nearly impossible thses days.
the bed is beautifully finished, paintwork is very good and the finished
wood strips look amazing.
here's a detail of the woodwork
Hinges and latches and hardware are all extremely clean.
here's a good shot of the whole bed...it is very nice indeed.
OK..here's a flaw...a couple of small blisters along the bottom edge of
the gates.
This is truly the "worst of it" the rest of the Bus is really
clean.
Amazing actually...they do not come around this nice often.
In closing this is siply a great truck.
Totally stock, not lowered or "funked up" with wild paint or
funny changes.
Its pure and proper, just as it was designed to be. Its a very very straight
and sold example
and the quality of the restoration is very nice. And add to that that it
runs and drives as good as it looks.
This is the one...dont miss it!
