1962 VW Sunroof Beetle Sedan For Sale

Here is a very unique custom VW that has just recently hit the scene.
A fresh approach and many special touches make it an impressive bit of work and a car that will always draw a crowd.
Located in Washington State, it has been collecting trophies like crazt in the Northwest events
including the Promotors Choice award at the Great Canadian VW Show.
The top accolade so far is the cover and centerfold feature in the Dec 2008 issue of Hot VW's Magazine.
It has also just come out in the Feb 2009 issue of Ultra VW Magazine!

The car earned the nickname "Sly Fly" due to the color choice
which is Ferrari "Fly Yellow", which is perhaps one of the best yellow's ever.
It was an absolute full body off affari with every nut and bolt detailed and put into show quality finish.
The goal was to create a total show stopper...and that was most certainly acheived.

To compliment the bright yellow finish...the sunroof cover was also done in yellow, which is a very unique touch.
Body trimmings and the basic body shape were left totally stock, but several bolt on custom touches were applied.

Here's a shot of it at a VW event , all set up and under the lights.

Wheels off you see the level of detailing and the custom bits.

More of the same amazing detail out back.
Check out the spring plate caps, the drum covers and all the shiny bits.

Custom ribbed bumpers with guards are a very slick and are a nice chnge from the normal stock bumpers.
Look sat the three bar horn grilles and just visable in the image is the custom Porsche style hood crest
that reads Sly Fly across the top. Great details like this are always nice to see.

Rear bumper is matching of course, bumper guards are custom made and have a great flow to them design wise.

The Mooneyes Speedmaster wheels look awesome on the car and with the bullet center cap and matching lugs
it really looks wild. The wide whitewalls are a bit of work in their own right...the rear's especially.
BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls were ordered from Coker Tire, but the rears were sent to
Hurst Racing Tires in Oregon for transformation into "Pie Crust" Cheater Slicks that measure 26.5X7X15...awesome old school stuff!

Porsche 911 style headlight lenses and chrome fender beading are other cool touches.

Wild ride indeed...

The dash was left stock for the most part, but the finishes are stone crazy.
(note: the GT wood rim wheel is not currently with the car, but could be negotiated if desired)
Check out that great vintage tachometer and the billet knobs.

Seats and door panels were done in heavy metalflake 50's diner chair material.
Racing belts in grey match well, and check out that wild mono-spoke steering wheel!

Looks like some sort of Vegas thrill ride...wild!

Nice stance to the car...not too low, not too high.

Polished stainless muffler and external oil filter stick out under the bumper.

The engine compartment is spotless and under all the chrome and cool stuff is a 1776cc with fully polished
Italian Weber 48ida carbs with custom air cleaners.

Very tidy in here with lots of attention to cleanliness and detail and keeping things smooth.

The Sly Fly character is on the fan shroud as well as under the car.

And under the car we go...the "Fly's eye" view of the underside shows just how insane the owner went
with detailing and custom work.

Trans is the original one for the car, but with a Super Diff, welded 3rd and 4th gears and steel shift forks.
Clutch is a beefy Kennedy 2300 pound set up with rigid disc.

Custom show pan cover was made and airbrushed with the Sly Fly name and logo.
(applied in revers so when shown with mirrors underneath it, it can be read correctly.

Front end is a JT aluminum beam with adjusters, and wow does it look sweet in there.

Stainless steel brake lines, all chromes shocks, tie rods, trailing arms and spindles.

Wild level of detail as this "under construction" photo shows before the fender was mounted.

This under construction photo shows the front end from above...details like this transform a car
to a rolling work of art... it's a long and expensive route to go this far with a car.
But when it is done...it is a delight to look at.

Sly Fly comin at ya!
