1968 VW Karmann Ghia Coupe For Sale

The car has been driven a lot in it's life, but the owner has cared for
it properly.
He estimates the actual mileage since new at 372,000 miles!
The engine has about 50,000 miles on it and all the mechanical bits have
been
serviced and rebuilt as needed. The car runs and drives very well and has
always been
not only reliable transportation, but a trusted friend for it's long time
owner.

The paint is chipping up, and the car has some minor cosmetic issues, but
the strong
points are that it is very complete, very straight and very very solid.
Its a turn key car...drive it as it is and fix it up over time.

The car still has some eye appeal...the chrome looks bright and the color
is sweet.

Pop out windows give nice ventilation at speed.
Window rubbers look like they are holding up pretty well.

Interior is actually pretty clean. Seats look great in black with red piping
Door panels are cool too...slightly custom in look...quite sporty.

No radio in the dash and the woodgrain trim on the face is cracking up
a bit...and the dash pad is
completely gone...but these are parts that are readily available.

The instrumentation is in nice shape, the small Ghia emblem is present.

Glove box lacks gloves but is funtional for other purposes.

Carpet looks to be the original and there is a section missing above the
pedals.

Rear seat is upholstered to match and looks pretty slick.

Fold the seat down and there is nice room for yor groceries and assorted
togs.

Headliner appears to be in nice shape as well.
Really with a dash pad and overlay and some fresh carpets...the interior
would look fantastic.

Hop in and hit the road!

You can see some scratches here and there...but still a cute machine.

Stone chips on the nose, but the nose is excellent...never hit.

Very straight nose on the car...I sure like to see than on a Ghia.
So many have had a little punch up front.
Bumpers looks really nice and straight to me and the chrome is shiny.

Open wide! In this shot the carpet trunk liner is out so you can see the
wiring.

Spare tire tucked neatly in it's spot...

Fan belt and jack and handle. etc

Close up

While Im on the little bits...included is a spiral bound "Idiot Guide",
a betley Manual, some other catalogs and literature.
Also included are the Karmann Ghia emblems shown here in the photo.

Trunk liner in place things look a little tidier up front.

"Come fly with me...come fly away"...

Doors are in good shape, glass is all good.
Chrome trims along the bottom of the body were removed during the restoration
and the holes filled. These could be put back if one desired...the kits
are available.

Rear bumper looks good...the reverse lights are still present.
Cool vintage luggage rack on the decklid.

The engine is a 1641cc unit that started with a brand new case and built
up from there by
a respected shop in California. It has just about 50.000 miles since the
rebuild
and runs like a champ.

Exhaust looks new on the car...with fat tips to give it a slightly beefier
exhaust note.

Under the engine is very clean and dry...nice to see.

Shocks look fairly recent...tires look to be good.

The chassis of the car looks to be extremely solid original metal.

Very very dry car...it's always been under cover or garage stored while
in the current owner's care.

Chrome wheels are in very clean shape and the fender wells look solid and
clean.
Disc front brakes.

KYB Gas Adjust shocks... good stuff!

On this leading corner of the passenger side front fender there is a little
rust blister happening.
That seems to be the only body rust on the car.

Rear wheel well shot.

The chrome luggage rack is a nice accessory!

So...there you have it.
A good running, decent looking, very solid California car with a well known
history
and long term ownership. Not a show car, but it could be if one wanted
to restore it.
Straight body, very complete. Located in Walnut Creek California.
