1968 Type III Squareback

Wow!
Ive gotta say this is one of the nicest Squarebacks Ive ever seen.
First of all I love the color combination, second of all I like how it's built.
This was one of those no screw left un-turned kind of a jobs and the attention to detail
is really top notch. Its only got about 300 miles on it since completion so it really is like a new car.

A lot of subtle and tastefull changes have been made to the car to give it the appearance of an earlier model
example like the early rear hatch, the wide stainless steel trim and the early style flat taillights.
The paint and bodywork is exceptional...look at the reflection down the side! Smoooooth!

The overrider bumpers add some style too.

Just gorgeous.

The chrome is excellent, the paint is superb, the fit and finish of everything is excellent.
This is a very well done car, built with an eye for quality and Im sure the owner spared no expense.

H-4 flat headlights.

Early style stainless side trim and side marker lights.

Wow this thing is straight!!

4-lug BRM wheels with special machined Speedwell center caps.
205-65-15 rubber in the back, 185-60-15 up front.

The early rear hatch keeps the back end looking simple and smooth.

Current California registration and a clear title.

Flat Euro style taillight lenses.

Really a good looking ride dont you think?

Nice wood slat roof rack.

Super smooth down the sides.
No shopping cart dings on this grocery getter!
Note that the fule door has been shaved smooth.
Access to the tank is under the front hood like the early cars.

Classy isnt it?

Super clean under the front hood.

Details like this are what makes a quality restoration stand out from the crowd.
All the latches and hardware was cad-plated and restored to factory new appearance.

The hardware in here too...super straight and smooth in the spare tire well.

The hood latch...like jewelry!

Very clean and well detailed.
Note that the horn is not present in this photo...but it will be before delivery to it's new owner.

Out back some nice speaker boxes, fresh carpet, tidy detailing.

Original engine lid material looks a little out of place with the rest of the car being so gorgeous.
I think just painting it would help...good thing it hides under the carpet anyway.

Spotless engine compartment.
This 2 Liter powerplant features a DeMello crank, Cima pistons and cylinders, pro built heads
with 42X35.5 valves, 40mm Weber carbs, Full flow oil system, electronic ignition and a whole lot more.
Runs excellent.

Nice custom billet air cleaners cab off the Weber carbs.

Auxillary oil filter, stainless braided lines, ceramic coated performance exhaust, deep sump, aluminum valve covers
performace mounts and excellent detailing.
(non functional heater though for you cold weather guys...)

Nice merged header system.
Car sounds really awesome...gotta hear it to believe it.

Fresh show detailed transmission, performance trnas mounts, etc.

KYB GR2 shocks, all new cv joints and brakes and everything.
This car truly drives awesome.

Excellent solid floor pans.

Very nice and solid car.

Are you liking this car as much as I am... dang it's a sweetheart!

Inside the vision continues with tasteful upgrades and very nice quality workmanship.

EMPI GTV Mahogany wood rimmed steering wheel.

Nice...

Rare trip speedometer.
Car has only about 300 miles on it since completion...hardly even break in miles!

Billet aluminum dash knobs.

Nice modern CD player mounted in a factory mount, Pioneer speakers front and back.
More billet aluminum knobs.

Center console with storage compartment.

Excellent door panels.

More phenomenal detailing.

The other side as well...everything is new.

Lowback seats, great color choices, everything in new condition.

Tweed centers and vinyl seat upholstery.
Matching seat belts are installed as well for safety.

The rear seat is excellent as well.
1st place winner at the Bug In 32 and at the 03 VW Classic!!

Headliner is excellent as well.

Excellent fit and finish.

No sunvisors...

Dome light even works!

Molded in speaker panels.

More excellent detailing in the door jams.

This is awesome!
All new rubber seals everywhere of course.

Just awesome.
Its not often you see a Squareback restored to this level.
Its really expensive to have this sort of work done.
If you brought your average Squareback to some of the top quality VW restoration shops and
wanted it to be restored like this, you would be looking at upwards of $20K for the bill...if not more.
The owner of this car did a lot of the work himself in regards to assembly and such, so he saved quite a bit there
but even so he has far more than the asking price invested in it.

In closing Im sure you can see that this is no ordinary station wagon.
It is a very well built car suitable for shows or just put it into use and have fun with it.
It was built very well and should give it's new owner many many years of enjoyment.
Grab this one quick...they dont get much nicer than this!!
