1955 Beetle Sedan for Sale..."The Sleeper"

This is a great car.
I like it for many reasons and I will most certainly bore you to death with all of them by the time I reach the bottom of the page.
But in the end I think you will understand just what makes this reasonably humble looking Beetle, so incredibly cool.

Its a 55 model, which qualifies as an "Early Oval"...it has the European style bumpers and semaphore turn signals,
The color is an original color (and the original color on this car) called Ultramaroon.
Its a rare color...you certainly dont see it often, but the look is awesome.

The Porsche "Gas Burner" wheels are a nice low key choice and the stance of this car is perfect with
just the right amount of "tuck" up front.

The Swan Neck Mirrors are one of my favorite accessories
(and are available for sale through our parts website!!)

The car retains al the original trim and such...very stock looking from the outside
with the only real noticeable changes being the wheels and suspension stance.

Paint quality is very nice...the restoration was done by the folks at KCW.
There is a full gallery on the build of the car on the KCW website that is a must-see.
They called it Marc's Famous Potato... CLICK HERE to see it.

Euro headlights

Wheels are super glean "gas burner" replicas.

Rear wheels tuck in nicely as well.

Semaphore signals

Heart taillights!!

Looks gorgeous...and it is in quite nice shape.
There are a couple of stone chips here and there but it still looks very fresh.

The best part is that from the outside you really dont know what lurks underneath...it just looks like
a normal, but very clean, "Resto Cal" Beetle...

Oval!

Single tip exhaust?

Excellent body and paint...all the stock trim is there...new fromt top to bottom with
new window rubbers and all.

Nice fit and finish.

Glass is all good (of course)

Interior is gorgeous and done very stock and proper.

Mohair style headliner

Very well fit

Bat Wing wheel looks great...a couple of minor cracks on the edge.

Stock speedo

Nice VDO tach in the center speaker grille...I really like the matching gauge and block off plate in the radio spot.

Carpet is all the German square weave stuff...beautiful

Gene Berg shifter with a line-lock switch?
Hey...wait a second...didnt this car look pretty stock?

Door panels are great.

Seats are excellent...the big fat racing lap belts are another clue that this isnt 36 horses pushing you along any more.

Rear seat is excellent as well

Under the back seat is the MSD ignition box and a nifty little knob that controls the fuel injection...
yes...thats right...are you ready to see what is out back now? Have I kept you waiting long enough?

BAM!! Check that out!!!
2276cc, 8: 1 compression, web 218 cam, stock port and valve size heads with dual valve springs
CB Performance turbo EFI. everything that was aluminium polished ! The fuel injection was upgraded to Weber Redline Fuel Injection.
The Weber kit is a far superior kit with more adjustments then the CB kit.
Kris Lauffer at VW Paradise in San Marcos installed the kit and dyno tuned it.
Two braided teflon -6 fuel lines (one for supply, and one for return for the EFI turbo engine).
Fins welded on the fan shroud , 3 1/2 quart sump , ceramic coated exhaust , turbo housing coated.
Single tip exhaust tip that you would find on a early 25/36 horse engine mounted to the wastegate To give the apearance of a stock engine.
MSD 6BTM Ignition Control , MSD Distributor , external oil cooler and fan , fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail to aid in regulator adjustment
Lots of custom fitting to get the CB performance kit into an early car !

Rancho pro street plus transaxle with all of the chromolly goodies and tricks, larger 1st gear to prevent breakage on drag race launches,
3.88 ring and pinion, and stock 2nd-4th gears . Re-enforced clutch tube . Mid mount for the trans .Custom-built color matched kafer brace.
Hurst line lock button installed on a Berg shifter , Sway a way spring plates and axles , Jaycee spring plate retainers ,
4 wheel disc brakes with ebrake, bus master cylinder , Line locks on the front brakes and an Optima Battery.

This combination pumped out a very impressive 189 Horsepower and 215 lbs of torque on the dyno!!!!!
Holy Moses!!!

Everything is very well detailed and the best of the best parts used.

Show detailed and built to scream!!

The turbo is neatly tucked up under the car...the single tip pipe for the wastegate is a stroke of genius...I love that!!

Engine has been run and the car has been driven...it's not a trailer queen!

Auxillary fan helps keep it all cool.

Chassis is super solid and very clean.

This was a body off resto.

Jaycee spring plate retainers.

Narrowed front beam...4 wheel disc brakes.

When you've got a car that goes as fast as this one...the disc brakes are a must!

Wiring is all new and clean.
Paint under the front hood and behind the dash is original.

Fuel tank is nicely painted and the breather line is well fit.

Super straight in the spare tire well.

Original body tag in place

Correct early 4 tab hood!

So...there you go. One truly sweet "Sleeper"
If you see this one roll up next to you at a stoplight...dont even think of trying it.
Granny's old Beetle has got a secret!!
