1970 VW Deluxe Bus For Sale

This is a neat Bus that has been a California car it's whole life and has the documentation to prove it.
Sold new in Harbor City California (in the Los Angeles area) and dealer maintained well into the late 70's.
It is a very original Bus, with the exception of an exterior respray and some front seat covers it is pretty much all "OG".

Very nice quality respray in the original green color, the Bus has a fantastic look to it.
The chrome bumpers are quite uncommon on this era of Bus, and have been with the Bus since new..
the chrome bumper accessory being one added at the dealership, along with a back seat that turns into a bed
and more neat additions.

The Bus runs and drives very nice. The engine looks to have been recently rebuilt and runs like it as well.
The brake system has been recently rebuilt to the tune of about $1700 and the receipt is included.
It is a clean turn key driver.

Body looks good and everything fits properly.
Glass is all in nice shape as is the window rubber

Very very solid Bus underneath the pretty exterior.

There is a rectangular spot on the driver's side where a small body repair was done and blended in...the paint color is off just a hair
so it is visable in the right light, other than that the paint is in very very nice shape.

Underneath it is as dry as a bone!

Really solid example...none of the rust that normally seems to attack these Busses.

1600cc engine runs fantastic and appears to be quite stock and proper with the only variation from
original being the mechanical advance distributor with the clear cap, and a Brasilian fuel pump.

Engine block has a VW remanufactured tag on it.

Clean under the decklid as well

The interior of this Bus is all original except for front seatcovers.
The material shows it's age a bit, but is holding up alright considering it's age.

Spare tire cover is in place

Seats have some discoloration to the material from age and there is a little peeling of the material on the door panels.
The door panels are an easy spray glue repair, the seats may scrub up a bit more, or could be vinyl sprayed back to the original color
or just leave it as it is and live with the patina...
The rear seat features a desireable accessory option of being convertable to a bed...this was dealer installed.

Center seat has it's belts in place

A little scruffy perhaps, but for a lifetime in the California sun...they dont look too bad.

Center seat has the armrest too

Bulkhead panels look pretty clean

The two tone material design was unique to the Deluxe models.

This is one of my favorite spots on this Bus...look how clean the back floor is.
This is original paint back here...very clean and solid.

Anyone who has been into Bay window Busses for any time will tell you how nice it is to see an original floor that looks this good!

Here you can see the hinge for the flip back seat...very cool.

Original mat in back looking pretty nice.

Front floor mat is a bit broken up from age, but it has done it's job to protect the floors.

Looks pretty solid here dont you think?

Looks like there has been some clean up done in the past up front here, but very solid.

Dashboard is clean and uncut.

Shifter extention was dealer installed as well.
Very original and untouched under here.

Modern radio installed in the dash...but cleanly done.

Original door panels look pretty nice up front.

Speakers are non-original but are well fit.

Front seats have been recovered and are in decent condittion.

Headliner has a few flaws but is original.
Light unit in the center is not original...

Nice service history to this Bus

Looks like there was a Christmas road trip to Ohio in 1972..otherwise it's California everywhere else.

Dealer serviced up past 100k miles!

Here is the original sale invoice showing the accessories including the chrome bumpers and guards, inside curtains,
rear bed converter, cig lighter, engine lock, side step and gear shift extension.
The side step is long gone unfortunately, as are the curtains, but the rest remains!

original owner's info...

In closing this is a good Bus with a known history and a nice exterior restoration.
The all original interior is a neat thing to establish the history of the Bus, but I think some may want to make it as nice as the outside
which could easily be done with the materials available on the market today.
Either way it is a good looking, good running Bus in one of the best of the Bay window color schemes!
