1944 KDF Type 82e Re-creation

This was a personal project for us here at Oldbug for a while.
The restoration was started by a fellow up in the San Jose area and we
picked it up and completed the job.
It was sold a few months back to a gentleman from south Orange County who
has used it in wartime re-inactments
but needs to sell it to free up garage space for his genuine Kubelwagen...must
be tough.
In any case it was a ground up restoration, done to a pretty nice level
but perhaps not concours.
It was built for fun and fun it most definitely is.

The wheels are genuine items from a Schwimmwagen sourced in Germany.
Wherever possible early split window era parts were used in the creation
of the car.
The look is very convincing and only the most hardcore VW guru can spot
the differences.

I have a whole ton of super detailed photos that I have taken of the car
showing all the details
but I shot them on a very high resolution so they are too large to post
as they are.
I will work on re-sizing them, but for now you can see some
of them at the link below.

The car has been photographed for feature articles in two major
international VW publications
and always draws a crowd at every VW event.
