1963 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale

OK...you came here to see VWs, and we have quite a few of them from all
over the country advertised.
There are show cars and there are drivers and there is everything
in-between.
It can be a bit confusing for a first time to know what it is you are
looking at.
This Beetle is a prime example of that...at first glance...it just
looks like a basic white Beetle that is lowered a little...
But as we delve in further I hope I can educate you a little and show
you that it is much more than that.

What sets this car apart from the masses is quality.
The quality runs throughout the whole car...from the top level paint
work to the serious performance drivetrain.

I think the word that best describes this car is "sanitary"...it is all
really super clean.
When the owner tells me he has over $45,000 invested in the car...I can
believe it.
This is a 2332cc powerplant that pumps out about 210hp on the dyno at
the wheels.
He says he has about $15k in the engine and exhaust alone.

The interior is another area where you can see quality over quantity.
This interior was all hand stitched and fitted by the craftsmen at West
Coast Classics.
This is not the production line aftermarket stuff that you buy off the
shelf.
What's the difference?? Welllthe quality of the materials is much
higher, the stitching is straighter,
the fit is tighter, the padding is better and the end result is far far
nicer than any of the "kits" out there could ever dream of being.
Along with that quality comes a price tag...but the ends justify the
means when the car is yours and you want the best.

Look at the cleanliness of the seat frames, the nice firmly fit German
wool square weave carpets just as they used in Germany at the factory..

Minor functional deviations from stock on this car like the addition
of a tachometer along the steering columm.
Mounted without drilling extra holes or doing anything silly.

The steering wheel is an Empi GTV wood rimmed wheel.

The dash is super clean and stock and the paint quality continues into
the areas that most folks will never look at...
but this is the difference between a $599 respray at Earl Scheib and a
top level restoration shop's work at
$5000 to $8000!

This is just a little slice of the difference between this car and
something you might see on our website for
a third of the price....the old addage "you get what you pay for" is
often very correct.

The overall build of the car is very mild and restrained...and that is
pretty cool in my book.
No wild paint colors, no braggard-like fat exhaust dangling out the
back or "sock in the pants" deck-lid stand offs...
It is truly low key and understated.

The car is not a "kid's" car...not something built for the High School
parking lot...this was built for
someone that has the means and the desire for something quality.

Fit and finish is the key...if you want it done "right" you need to go
the extra mile to make it so.

Perfect stance...better than showroom appearance...yet humble.
In this world of ours today, flaunting your money with bold and flashy
exotics is not a way to make friends.
But rolling up to the coffee house in this...all boundaries are knocked
down.
The rich guys will see it and respect the quality, the poor guys will
dig it and give you thumbs up
and everybody inbetween will give you a smile and a nod.

Pull up in this...and you are a "tool"...pull up in the Beetle and you
can change that first letter to a "C" ...
Seriously...I see it again and again...when you drive a vintage
VW...people are friendly to you.
When you drive something blatantly expensive you get the finger...
So how do you want to spend your pleasure drive?
With waves and smiles or scowls and turned heads?

OK...enough of the soap box talk...lets get back to this car and just
how clean it is...

The body is wonderfully straight and the shut lines on the door are
superb.

The bumpers are the best quality stuff, not the cheap Brazilian stuff
that rusts up in 6 months.
Note the black California plates...this car is a genuine California
original and started out pre-restoration
as a very very solid and straight example with all original German
sheetmetal.

Stock rubber mats....

Racing belts to hold you tight on those slippery seats under hard
accelleration.

Headliner is tightly fit.

Factory radio delete plate in the dash...note the Gene Berg
shifter...the best out there!

Check out the aluminum trim rings around the heater vents just as
original...you dont get those with the cheap carpet kits!!

Nice!

Look at the door pocket...far far better than the factory ever did it!

MSD racing distributor...powder coated engine tins, all stainless
polished hardware.
The engine is the total top of the line build with counterweighted
crankshaft and everything balanced and blueprinted.

The Weber 48ida carbs are spotlessly clean.

The whole engine room just screams "go"...not "show".
Purpose built to run right and perform well, while remaining very clean
and presentable.
"Chrome dont get you home" as they say...and this was not built to be
flashy!

The underside of the engine and trans and such is also wonderfully clean
and purpose built. Check out the electric cooling fan on the auxillary
oil cooler.
The braided stainless lines and all the details.
The transmission is properly beefed up as well to handle the horsepower
with a Quaiffe diferential, Sway Away axles, close ration 3rd and 4th
gear and all the
super strong stuff so you can drop the hammer and not be afraid of
blowing gears across the boulevard.

Check out the Jaycee remote oil filter set up and the ceramic coated A1
stainless exhaust system.
Deep oil sump for added capacity (which goes a long way to help keep
these big motors cool)

Genuine Porsche alloys have been polished and detail painted by the
"Alloy Master" Al Reed.

Cross drilled brake rotors on the front disc brake set up.
The same on the rear...yes...4 wheel disc brakes on this one!!

Not stone chipped or worn in any way...extremely well kept and cared
for.

Headlights are NOS original European models with the non-sealed beam
bulbs.

Check out the cleanliness of the wiring and the area behind the dash.

Paint quality in the trunk is excellent...

Never wrecked or rusted...this is as good as it gets.

I could ramble on forerver on this sort of thing, but in the end what
we have here is a Beetle that is done professionally
with an eye for quality that is uncommon in the world of VWs. If
you are the sort of person that
has a similar eye for quality and want to buy a car that will make you
proud...this might be the one for you.
