1956 VW Beetle Oval Euro Model Sedan For Sale

This 1956 Beetle is an all original un-restored survivor
that is located in Southern California and is now ready for a new caretaker.

The seller has provided a massive pile of images of the car and they are all too good not to share.
I wont comment on all of them, but as you go through them, I am sure you will agree, its a pretty awesome car.

European model originally delivered to Sweden.
Small bumper guards are a Euro model detail

Keep in mind that this is the original paint on the car...not a re-spray!
Pretty amazing!

Euro headlights

Superb

No wrecks, no repairs, approx 70k original Kilometers since new
That's about 43,500 miles

These accessory semaphore replacements were common in some
European countries when the semaphore signals became obsolete.
This car comes with a pair of original semaphores should the owner like to swap them back.

One vent wing glass has a different logo...perhaps replaced at some point

Paint meter readings have been taken all around the car and seem very consistent.
The only slightly thicker reading was on the engine lid.
It is believed to be all original paint finish except that one part
and it has been inspected by some very knowledgeable folks.

Lights are all functional

SWF washer bottle

Original jack

Tag under the hood hinting at its Swedish origins.

Excellent dash

Original carpets, seats, everything

Rare locking steering column with starter button below.

Never a radio installed

Washer bottle system knob

Original distributor

Some age discoloration on that original cloth material, but still in great shape

Nice tight pockets...no stretched elastic or anything

The underside remains untouched, as is the whole car really
(other than maintenance items)

There is a combination of road grime and some surface rust underneath obviously
but nothing requiring welding or repair.

Would be very interesting to bring this car to a cryo blasting facility
to see what that process would do for the underside.
I think it might really do some amazing stuff.

Dirty perhaps...but wonderfully solid!

Nice wear on the original paint and controls.
There is something about survivor cars like this that really appeals to me as well as many other collectors.

Impressive headliner and carpets

Very clean and solid under the back seat

Beautiful condition, and that European cloth is oh so cool!

There is some wear on the drivers seat from use, but it is minimal.

Personally I would probably leave this as is and just fit a nice
simple slip cover over the seat when driving to preserve this originality.

Passenger side seat looks great.

Chassis number.

Under the front hood remains wonderfully clean and original

Super solid and super straight

Its even clean around the brake fluid reservoir !
A life filled with careful owners is obvious looking at this car.

Body tag is still brightly plated and clean

The mounting bracket for the washer bottle goes right over the body number and tag.
This was installed when new and just is what it is.

Impressive originality to this car!

Wow

This is in Kilometers...not miles.

Amazing floors

Numbers matching original engine runs superb.
(running and driving videos available...just ask)

I love it when they are this clean and original...total time capsule

Note that the deck lid spring perch has loosened from
the metal on the lid and is cracked. When opening and closing you hear a "pop"
that is not right.  A careful metal guy could weld the cracks and fix this, and then touch up.

More underside shots.
Looks impressively solid

A fair bit of what you are seeing is the original undercoating that was used in Sweden.
It ages like this over time.  Its done its job, as you saw the floor shots from the inside
the pans are super solid.

Radial tires obviously...good tread.

What a beauty.
It comes with some spare parts as well as the original owners manuals and some other
historic documentation.  Its a "wow car" in my book, one of those wonderful survivors
that somehow made it through the past 66 years without an accident or modification.
Its a rare find these days.
