It must be "spring cleaning" time as the Barn Find cars are coming out of
the wood work!
This 1959 Cabriolet has been in storage for the past 14 years in its New
Hampshire home
and it is time to set it free!
Very complete and original car, obviously repainted at some point, but still
very stock and unmodified.
Looks like the original color is peeking out under the hood.
All the right bits in place under here...apron, fuel tank, etc.
Looks pretty straight and not too rusty in the spare tire well.
Even though the color is not an original, it sure looks great on the car.
Id be tempted to leave it as is and just enjoy the light patina.
Correct decklid.
Bumpers look like aftermarket replacements.
Some damage on the drivers rear fender on the light and around the bumper
bracket openings.
What a good looking car though!
Stock wheels with caps and trim rings.
Cool original radio in the dash.
Looks like a slightly newer 40 horse engine in this one.
Apron is the original H pattern.
Looks reasonably solid in here too.
Top is fully functional, but is showing some age.
Steering wheel looks like a decent one and the horn push is nice shape.
The Wolfsburg radio is super cool!
Panels are pretty warped up and the seat material is showing it's age.
As you would expect with a car from New Hampshire, there are some rust issues
in the support rails, etc.
Front parts of the pan look pretty good.
Some home-spun patching under the battery area.
This is a car that will require some welding to be sure.
All the glass is presentand in decent shape
In closing this is a great project basis.
You could certainly get it running as it sits and have some fun with it as-is
or dive in and give it the proper restoration that it deserves.
