1960 VW Single Cab Transporter with Rare Wide Bed Option For Sale

The Single Cab VW Transporter is a great machine and while not super common,
I am quite sure that the vast majority of vintage VW fans out there have seen one.

Production of the "working class" VW Busses had some special order models
however that are extremely uncommon to see in today's world.

From the same collection as the "High Roof" Panel Van that is currently on our website
comes this very rare optioned special model with an extra wide bed.

With roughly 5-6" overhang along the sides, this gives a significantly larger cargo area.

Have you ever seen one of these before?

This was indeed a factory offered option as this brochure clip shows above.
The brochure above is in Italian, and I don't recall ever seeing it in any of the US literature.
I dont think many came to the US, but if you knew the option existed
and you had a dealer that was willing to place the order for you...it is something you could get.

This truck has recently been pulled out of long term storage.
We have it running and moving under its own power but I would urge a new owner
to go through it with a proper maintenance job of changing fluids and inspecting everything
before putting it into serious use or any long drives.

Its an older restoration that is showing its age, and when it was restored it was not a top level job
but it is a respectable looking truck as the photos show it to be.

The interior is clean and the dash is un-cut or modified.

Seat upholstery cleaned up well and looks good.

You can see the door panels have warped a little from moisture

Headliner panels in good shape

Pretty clean and basic in here

Nice rubber mat

Floors under the mat do show signs of patching.

Here you can see the warping and minor shrinking of the door panels.

Safari windows were installed at the time of the restoration.
The wiper arms are not on spring loaded bases...so they must be
moved into place and tightened before use.
The drivers side blade is a little tweaked and has fallen at some point and scratched the paint.
(It might sand and buff out...but I have not gone after that to try)

Dove Blue is the factory color for the truck and it looks great on it.
US spec bumpers and headlights on this truck.

That wide rear bed is really awesome!
