This is a truly stunning custom 21 window Bus that comes to us from the state
of Maryland.
This bus was recently featured in Hot VWs Magazine and is a consistant award
winner since completion
earlier this year.
The restoration was done by Cookers Vee Dubs , these are the same folks that
did the restoration on
the red and white lowered 21 window also on our site (priced well over $100k!)
This one seems to be every bit as clean and with an asking price that seems
like a bargain in comparison.
Very rare to see a 21 window done in a solid color, but you could get them
this way when they were new.
Many years ago I had a 66 21 window in original paint that was all white.
It gives the Bus a different look than the more common two tone...I really
like it.
This Bus is stunning and is done with an impressive eye for detail.
Every nut and bolt attended to, all of it to show quality.
The chrome Torker wheels are a nice change over the more common designs
the suspension on this one is quite low.
The Bus looks great on the outside but it is the details inside and underneath
that really make
it someting very very special...so lets take a peek in those spots now.
OK...first of all, everybody wants to see under the floor mats and underneath...
well here you go...as clean and smooth as you would ever expect one to be.
The interior is done very well.
Headliner is done in cloth, sunroof cover in canvas, seats in vinyl.
Very nice tight fit
Here is the "road kill cam" view up into the interior...all so nice!
Bottoms of doors and everything...excellent.
Interior under the dash...all areas attended to.
New rubber mats for floor and seat stands.
Here is where it gets real crazy!
Check out the underside of this Bus!!!
Sanitary!!
Belly pans are superb
Rear frame and everything all wonderfully clean.
Fresh 3.88 gear box for rollin on the interstate.
Straigh axles...no gear reduction boxes...wheels and tires are all new
Front end is all fresh as well...narrowed front beam and dropped spindles
Only about 500 miles on the restoration since completion.
Tires are like new
A1 exhaust system is one of the best out there.
So nice!!
What I love seeing with a quality restoration is stuff like cleanly finished
corners and gaps that all line up right.
Nice details such as the stanless hardware holding the door ctach in place...very
nice details.
The fresh air box up high...
Here are some more underside shots.
Cant get much cleaner than this!
The sunroof assembly is all fully restored and the navy blue canvas sunroof
cover looks fantastic
with the white body color...very classy.
Everywhere you look it is show quality.
It take a lot of time to restore a Bus to this level.
Over 800 hours spent on this one!!!
Very clean in the battery area.
Engine is a freshly built 1835cc unit that runs fantastic.
Dual Weber carbs, serpentine belt system, 12 volt alternator...the works
and all of it detailed to a high degree.
The clean machine!
Note the blue rubber insert in the belt line trim...really sharp.
Chrome nose emblem
Safari front windows with spring loaded wiper shafts.
Body is very very smooth down the sides and the paint finish glossy
3 pop out windows on each side and the farthest back window is stationary
Looks like the did everything everywhere on this Bus!
New hardware to hold the air box cover on.
Dash is super clean...no radio.
I like the chrome grab handle on the dash over the original clock.
Steering wheel is fully restored and looks great.
Custom billet gas pedal.
Gene Berg shifter.
Fire extinguisher and church key...
Chrome handles on the doors as well.
I very much like the blue and grey two tone interior.
Both rear seats have the kick panels in place.
Floors are perfect.
"Jailbars" are there.
Rear seat has the proper luggage rail
Really just a beautiful Bus.
It is so clean and so tidy...really shows well.
In closing this is a great Bus...period!
Looking at the quality and extreme level of the restoration it really seems
like it is as nice as you could ever dream one to be.
Its an expensive thing to have work done like this. Add to that the rarity
of the Bus itself, this really seems like an amazing bargain
for the asking price. Dont snooze on this one!
