1964 Beetle Sedan For Sale

This is a pretty impressive survivor car...2nd owner, always garaged, a California car since new.
One of those "old man" cars that every VW nut dreams of finding.

Finding a good original black car seems to be more and more difficult these days.
The black ones tend to fade away and get painted happier colors or something, so
when I layed eyes on this one I could tell it was something special.

While it obviously looks great standing back a bit, where this car really shines is in the details.
The more you look at the car, the more you realize that what you are seeing is all original
and so many of the little details that remain are ones that are lost in a restored car.

Now I cant say that the car is "all" original because it has had one respray on the exterior only
and the seats have been re-upholstered. So there is no going back there, but lets dive in further and I
will explain why I like this car so much.

OK...here's one more little detail that is not original...the front bumper.

Ok, lift the hood and you find a very very clean original trunk liner and wiring cover.

Bias ply spare tire.
Note that the cad plating on the hood latch is still gold.
A little careful detailing here and it will shine like crazy.

Now we are getting deeper...note the original tags for the paint code and the washer bottle.
Also notice just how clean it is under the brake fluid resevoir.
No paint bubbles from leakage, etc.

Things deep in the spare tire well could use a quick polish, but what is here is sweet virgin material.

Extremely straight and solid.

The original hardboard wiring cover is in amazing condition.

The wiring is super clean and untouched.

Original paint under the hood shines like crazy.

Sweet face

The block off plate is still present behind the passenger side horn grille.
When the car was resprayed they did spray over the fender beading.

Original Hella headlights.
Check out the T-3 headlight bulbs too!

Original glass and original window rubber and trim all the way around.

A super straight car.

Nice radial tires on the original 15" wheels.

original German Hella taillight lenses.

Black California plates have been on the car since new.
Current registration with a clean California title.

Excellent fit to all the body panels...all original sheet metal.

The original numbers matching 40 horse engine runs superbly.

OK...here's my favorite part...you are gonna think Im a nut...the hose clamps.
Yes the hose clamps impressed me...why? Because 99.9% of the VWs Ive seen have
modern hose clamps...these are the originals.

Everything is so wonderfully stock and unmodified in here it just made me smile.
Check out the short 6 volt coil, the original German fuel pump, all the proper tins in place.
Its awesome. And with a little scrubbing and polishing t will look amazing.

original paint finish under the engine lid.

Check out that awesome smooth apron.

Underside of the engine shows a little road grime but no wet spots under the engine.

Extremely solid rust free example.
Original undercoating is undisturbed

Totally awesome.

Fenders have never been off the car.

Horn has never been touched...drain tubes are still present under the headlight buckets.

Totally untouched but dreamily original
(is dreamily a word?...if not it should be!)

I like this shot... put it in black and white and it would look like it was taken when the car
was new...the 50-'s 60's California tract home in the backround...

Curb feeler!

A slight paint run above the trim.
The quality of the respray is pretty nice actually but it was not a show level job.
It was done many years ago and has a great original look and feel to it though.

Here's a little scuff on the inner fender edge on one fender (passenger side rear).
The tire must have kicked something up at one point.

Very straight down the sides.

Very nice reflections.

The dashboard is simply stunning in the car.
All completely original and extremely clean.

Steering wheel is in excellent original condition.

Odometer reads 14,400 miles.
OK...now Im sure it must have turned over once, but Im sure it's only once.

Original radio works beautifully.

original keys.
Check out that original carpet in the backround too!

All original rubber mats in excellent shape.

Really well preserved.

Barely a hint of wear...almost make you think the mileage on the car is 14K original!

Super clean under dash.

OK...the seats were redone and in the incorrect materials.
If the car were mine I would first take a peek under these and see what is there, and then if
I didnt get lucky with that I would redo the seats in the proper vinyl.
Very clean original seat belts by the way.

Check out the seat belt keeper...these are almost always missing.

The little rubber ball on the heater vents...another commonly missed item in restorations.

Original door panels.

Gorgeous original paint in the door jams.

The seats are in excellent shape and the material is quite nice though.

Rear seat done to match.

The car has always been garaged and proof of that is the amazing condition of the original headliner under the window.
Cars from California almost always have sun damage here.

Some very light age discoloration on the original headliner
but it is in impressive condition considering it's been in the car since it left Wolfsburg.

Awesome.

Detail of the original seat belts.

Under the seat in the battery area is super clean and proper.

Original owners manual and the matching front plate.

Great notebook service manual.

Cool.

Just a super clean honest original car.
It wouldnt take much effort at all to bring it to show standards, or a super delightful weekend driver as it is.

These solid original California cars are getting harder and harder to find every day.
The values of the survivor cars is growing fast and as time goes on I feel they will be in even more demand.
From an owner's point of view there is nothing like having a good solid original example.
A car can be restored again and again...it is only original once, and this car has enough originality to it to
make it a pretty special find in my book. The owner of the car feels this way too...he loves it and will miss it,
but it's time to let it go and regain some garage space. By the way, the owner is a factory trained VW mechanic
so he knows proper maintenance, and this was a customer's car apparantly, so it has had a pampered life.

So there you go...a clean, mostly original virgin of a car, no wrecks, no rust, well maintained, always garaged
a California car since new. And a very good one to grab and stash away.
