This 1979 Beetle Convertible is one of the last of the breed.
It rolled off the assembly line in December of 1979, right at the end of
production.
The very final one came off the line on Jan 10th 1980...and that was the
very end of air cooled Beetle production in Germany.
The 79 Super Beetle has long been desired...it is the most refined Beetle
of the whole line...smoother, quieter, more cushy and deluxe.
It was the end of an era and collectors and fans alike grabbed the last ones
with a fever when it was announced that the party was over.
This example is located in Prescott Arizona and it is a nice quality driver.
Not a show car or an insanely low mile collector piece, but one that has
been enjoyed and driven
like it should be and it is certainly suited to continue with that fun.
Turn the key and go...a lot of fun in a happy round package.
The car is well trimmed...under the front hood is a nice carpet kit
It has the deluxe burl wood type finish on the dash and the clock.
Manual transmission.
A center console to help hold your stuff.
Basic black carpet with minimal wear.
Headliner is in good shape
Looks nice.
The back corner of the door has had a minor paint touch up and the blend
is noticeable
A pretty little car though...nice shine, etc.
The original dash pad has some light cracks above the speedometer bump, but
it otherwise quite nice.
The owner has a new dash cap that he will throw in with the sale if desired.
Modern CD player in the dash.
Seats are done in a very nice cloth which is wonderfully comfortable in the
sun..
so much better than hot sticky vinyl.
Nice color combination.
Another underhood shot
Good shot of the dash
Interior panels are in good shape.
Looks pretty solid underneath overall.
There is a section under the battery that has been replaced.
Support rails look as sound and solid as can be.
Floor pans at the back edges have been patched up a bit.
Certainly fine as they are, no urgent attention needed at the moment
but repair has been done.
Under the trans looks nice and dry
A couple stone chips here and there.
Tires look good.
The chrome wheels are a nice touch and are in great shape.
Here is the production date sticker in the door jam.
Speakers mounted under the back seat
Some slight warpage to the drivers side door panel.
Paint has a good shine, very nice color.
Chrome around the windows is very nice!
Nice metallic to the paint. Aluminum body trim looks to be in nice shape.
Bumpers and headlight rings are also clean
These chrome wheels are slightly wider than stock which makes for improved
handling and a bit sportier look.
Sweet
Taillights are a bit special as well with clear tops rather than the factory
amber.
Car sits nice...never lowered or messed with.
What a cutie!
And such a happy face!
The engine is the stock 1600cc fuel injected powerplant.
It runs very well and is a delight to drive.
A fun pic of the Beetle and it's baby brother.
Spare tire well is super solid up front.
Original spare on the sport wheel
Odometer just recently turned over the 100k mark.
In closing this is a nice "driver quality" example that is clean enough to
get a compliment and a smile
and not so nice that you would be afraid to drive it or leave it in the parking
lot.
It is well sorted and ready to go, and it is priced very realistically.
