1954 VW Barndoor Kombi For Sale

This very rare early "Barndoor" 54 Bus is located in California
and has been built by the local VW craftsmen of the are to be a
strong running, super solid driver, yet retain the original paint and charm
of a lifetime of use.

The paintwork is about 50% original according to the owner.
Careful rust repair has been done to make the Bus totally solid and the paint masterfully blended in to appear original
which is pretty slick.  The logos have also been added to the Bus and have a nice aged look to them.

This has been the personal project of the owner of Murphy's Speed Shop
and he handled all the mechanical work in house using the best parts available.

The bodywork and paint blending was done by a very well respected shop in California
and the interior was restored by the skilled hands at West Coast Classics.

Its really got a great look to it and is a fantastic driver that has no issues with
keeping up with the modern traffic on the roads today.

The original 36 hp engine is long gone
(but the owner does still have the original suspension parts and transmission should a future owner like to return it to stock specs)
In its place is a fully pro built 2110cc engine mated to a Benco pro-street trans with freeway gearing
and all four corners are fitted with Wilwood disc brakes by Oldspeed.

The chassis is very solid on the Bus and any notable rust has been attended to.
New floors have been installed as well as any other area of weakness.
The Bus today is very solid and strong and well sorted in all respects.

All new tie rods, brake system etc.

Original steering box retained

Dropped spindles up front and cross drilled rotors with Wilwood calipers and braided stainless lines.
