1960 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale

This is a super cool Beetle, and quite rare.
This Indigo Blue 1960 is a very uncommon Canadian model
called a Canadian Custom, which is basically a blend of the European Standard model
but with Deluxe Beetle exterior trim, synchromesh transmission and hydraulic brakes.

This example is a very clean all original numbers matching car with documentation
back to day one.  It runs and drives wonderful and has an amazingly solid body and
a wonderful natural patina.

The paint is mostly original with some fade through in spots
and some touch up on the fenders and front hood.

The original owners manual is included as well as the service booklets
and an incredible hand written log of every fuel tank and repair from 1960
up until 1995!

The hand written log from the original owner is amazing and concludes at its
sale to the second owner in 1995 with just under 99,000 miles on the odometer.

Dealer service stamps at the original selling dealer Morton Motors in Ottawa
The original dealer plate frame remains on the back of the car that matches this stamp.

The Birth Certificate from VW shows it retains its matching original engine.

The Birt Certificate shows it to be a "Leap Year Car" being built on Feb 29th 1960.

The list of options spells out all the unique details of this Canadian delivery car

Original paint on all the wheels and the spare still wrapped with an original Continental tire.

Really a stunning car and a spectacular one year only color called Indigo Blue

Still retaining a nice shine to the original paint and the areas worn thin
from age and careful polishing add such an amazing soul to this car.

Some stone chips on the hood of course, but no big damage

The coolest part about the car to me is the minimalistic headliner that is normally found only in the
Standard models that we never received through the US dealerships.
This leaves the window frames and structure painted in the factory body color.

This looks so clean and so cool, bringing that paint color all around you rather than just on the doors and dash.

Paint and headliner, in fact the whole interior is original and unrestored.

Another great Canadian only detail is this VW script badge that was produced
for VW in Canada!

The original dealer plate frame is cool, as are the jeweled reflectors.

All the lights work on the car, even the license plate light

The solid color door panels are a unique thing to the Canadian Custom model
No door pockets or arm rests.

Drivers side rear fender has been repainted
and the other fenders have had some paint blending for small repairs.
The fenders all appear to be original to the car and no notable damage visible underneath.
The rear bumper is a replacement unit and the chrome is excellent.

Just on the edge of the hood along the drivers side (pretty much right next to the turn signal)
there was a small repair and paint blend from the normal cursed hood prop kink
that seems to happen to this era car.  The hood fits fantastic with tight even gaps.

Radial tires on the original paint date coded wheels

Painted vent wing frames are also an original detail as is the lack of aluminum trim around the windows

The smooth trim-free dash features the standard model three spoke wheel
and factory radio block off plate. Knobs and controls are all black as well
rather than the off white seen on the deluxe models.

The factory Water Blue smooth seats remain in place and in very nice shape.
Lack of piping along the edge as well as the wing nut mounted seat frames
with no slider or back adjustments are another neat Standard model detail.
